No, not in this case. The closest related engine is VR6 found on VW Golf starting from 1991. Image from Wiki illustrating the difference: As you can see - VR6 is not inline but rather checkered, Audi 2.0 is like the leftmost engine - inline 4. Then they took 2 VR6 engines and joined them in V configuration getting W12 in 2001 for Audi A8 and VW Phaeton. After that, in 2003, they added twin turbo to it for Bentley Continental GT. And in 2005 they slapped on 4 more cylinders and more turbos and stuff and got W16 for Bugatti Veyron.
It depends. Your choices, in the US, include variants such as the baseline supercharged V6, the twin turbo V8 Sport, as well as the W12 Luxury. All are "L" configurations with the long wheel base. I bought my Audi A8L V8 Sport as a 2016 model last May. My add-on options included sports suspension, and night vision. The list price was just a few hundred less than $100,000. I was able to negotiate a fifteen percent discount. Do your research. There always seems to be incentives. Good luck.
Here is a list of the last 10 cars i have owned and I have owned and driven many more trust me. BMW m5 e39 2003 Mercedes e55 2003 BMW 730d 2007 S320 cdi 2007 Ls460 2007 Audi a8 4.0 tdi 2003 (I still own) Audi a8 4.2 tdi 2005 Audi a8 w12 2006 Audi a8 4.2 tdi 2014 (lease) Volkswagen touareg v10 2005 (I still own) As you can see from my list I have owned many audis since switching over to the audi a8. Here are the reasons for sticking to the audi a8 in my case: The audi interior was amazing The torque from the diesel OMG you need to feel it to believe it Audis and vw (same brand trust me) are well build and more solid than Mercedes and BMW so please keep your beemers and mercs parked up Quattro is legendary the best in class My a8 twin turbo with 550+ ftlb of torque can give me 39mpg on a run The transporter 3 audi a8 pushed me to make the decision. To answer your questions what are the reasons not to buy an audi, IN my opinion there are NONE. Maybe if I had to say at gun point they are expensive to put right especially in electronics but they haven't put me off Mo
I don’t care for cars I can’t get a manual transmission in, so probably not. If I were okay with an automatic, yes. The executive sedan Genesis G70 has a manual available, so I’d buy it. Genesis’ cars are impressive from an engineering and technological point of view. They (Hyundai group) have engines with some of the highest thermal efficiency on the market. That’s generally the mark of engineering prowess. Their three offerings have very high performance numbers. Nice styling and nice interiors. It’s amazing how far Hyundai has advanced their product lines since they entered the US market in 1985. The flagship G90 offers an astounding 420hp 5.0l V8. Even the base engine 3.3 twin turbo V6 with 365hp is no slouch. It completes nicely with the Mercedes S class. BMW 7 series, Audi A8 and Lexus LS. The mid range G80 has the same engines, same power as G90 but in a smaller luxury car package. So sportier and more peppy performance. It completes nicely with the Mercedes E class. BMW 5/6 series, Audi A6/7 and Lexus GS/ES. The executive sedan G70 offers an astounding 3.3 twin turbo V6 with 365hp as top engine. Even the base engine 2.0 twin turbo I4 with only 252hp will move it snappily. There’s a diesel available (not sure it’s available in the US) but we don’t talk of such abominations. It completes nicely with the BMW 3/4 series, Audi A4 and Lexus IS. I’m not sure I’d keep them for a long time. But if you’re only planning to keep the car for 4–5 years or leasing. I’d recommend looking seriously at them.
That, is a highly subjective question. I'll list which I think are the ten best supercar/hypercar engines (in no particular order) and why they made the list. Fair ? Thought so. 5.0Lt V10 (e60 M5, BMW) This was a time when 500bhp was in Lamborghini's & Ferrari's best. BMW made the motor exclusively for the M5 & the M6. Sure the cars were butt ugly, but the motor on this thing.. This is as close as you'll get to a BMW Hot Rod. It revved all the way to 8250rpm and made 510bhp, propelling the car all the way to 200mph. And this was in 2005. 7.3 Lt V12 (One-77, Aston Martin) The fact that this is the most powerful naturally aspirated v12 will not escape your mind once you put your crystal fob in. The classic case of British craftanship combined with this baritone will make you feel like the man (James Bond) himself. It’s not the power, rated to 750bhp, but the experience that's special with this one. Automotive art indeed.. 6.0 Lt V12 (Zonda R, F, Cinquè, AMG/Pagani) Horacio Pagani's collaboration with AMG Mercedes was mostly one sided. meaning there was no input from Pagani when it came to their wonder child. This 6.0 Lt V12 is all AMG. The violence this thing puts it's driver through alone should prove that beyond doubt. This motor makes, in one tune, close to 760bhp. And It is a piece of work, this thing. 2.0Lt Turbo (AMG, Mercedes) What's a tiny 2 Lt 4cylinder Pot doing in this fray ? I'll explain. by churning close to 380bhp now, This is the most powerful production spec 2.0lt motor ever made. period. Also gives close to 40mpg. That's unheard of in a performance sedan. 5.0lt triplex supercharged V8 (Agera RS, Koenigsegg) This one needs no introduction. The legendary One:1 is powered by a supercharged 5.0 V8 that, with koenigsegg's patented triplex technology, makes about 1 MegaWatt of power. That's 1340bhp in car math. It is no surprise this car currently holds multiple world records for top speed and fastest acceleration runs. 6.5 Lt V12 (Aventador SV, Lamborghini) The best v12 Lamborghini ever made will probably be it's last one. The 6.5Lt v12 in this thing is tuned to perfection. The redline kicks in at 9250rpm and the motor, along with all the savegery, makes 750 bhp in the "SV". If that isn't great, I don't know what is. 6.0 Lt twin turbo W12 (CGT/CFS W12, Bentley.) This deserves a spot here purely on a technological basis. The w12, which was also introduced in the Audi A8 after first being afeatured in the VW Phaeton, is now used exclusively in the A8(Audi) and the Bentley’s continental flying spur. This w12 is rated to make 626bhp in the Bentley, which is understandable, considering that propels the 2.5 tonne luxo-barge to over 200mph with ease.. 3.8lt Twin turbo Flat 6 (911 GT2 RS, Porsche) The legendary flat-6 from Stuttgart has been honed to perfection over several years. What first started as an interesting approach now became their party piece. This terribly well balanced 3.8lt flat 6, in the new GT2rs, makes close to 700bhp. 6.3 Lt V12 (812 Superfast, Ferrari) Ferrari makes great v12 engines. That’s no secret. However, they hit it out of the park with this particular 6.3Lt v12, This one’s tuned to make 789bhp at 9500rpm. That’s… high strung. This engine also powers the LaFerrari series. Should I even bother talking about the exhaust noises.? 16.4 Lt W16 (Chiron, Bugatti) Do I have to explain myself with this one ? First seen in 2009, the w16 that produced 1001bhp came with 10 radiators and 4 turbos is nothing short of tech wizardry. In 2017, the same engine makes 1491bhp. Like I inferred, a no brainer. The above listed, according to me, are 10 of the greatest performance car engines. Ever. Some other honorable mentions include 6.0 Lt Twin turbo V12 (Q7 v12 TDi, Audi) "The Diesel v12 that made 500bhp" 5.2 Lt V10 (Audi & Lamborghini) 6.0 Lt V12 (BMW/Rolls Royce) 4.0 Lt Twin Turbo V8 (RS6/RS7, Audi) 4.2 Lt Twin Turbo V8 (720s, Mclaren) 6.3 Lt supercharged V8 (Demon, Dodge)
