Designed by Hubert Kuberacki of the Warsaw University of Technology in collaboration with Bartosz Borowicz and Mateusz Przybysz, it looks like a car from the future. And that is exactly what it is. The idea of this electric vehicle using a circular chassis garnered a lot of interest in the early 2010s but apparently not enough for SpinCar to go into production. It's a shame, because thanks to its unusual, round shape and wheel arrangement – they are set at a 90 degree angle – it can turn around in place, eliminating driving backwards (always a hassle) and taking up less space than a traditional car, even though it is spacious enough to fit the whole family. The company presented its electric car brand to the public on 28th July 2020 at a special event organised at an exhibition hall in Sokołów near Warsaw. The two Izera prototypes unveiled were a hatchback and an SUV. The vehicles are the result of four years of work and research. The prototypes were designed by an international team composed of Polish engineers as well as workers of Torino Design, an Italian automotive design studio founded by Roberto Piatti. The renowned Polish car designer Tadeusz Jelec , who was involved with Jaguar for 30 years, also worked on the vehicles. Both of the prototypes have elegant, pleasant shapes. Their bodies are largely devoid of sharp angles, which gives them a fluid look. The hatchback has a bit of a sporting vibe to it, whereas the SUV, although bigger, doesn’t seem at all heavy. Both vehicles have short overhangs and passenger compartments reaching close to the front axle – features that are characteristic of modern electric cars. Piatti, who was present at the unveiling, said that the cars’ lights, which are very similar in both models, reference the Izera Mountains. Indeed, when you give the lights a closer look you can see in them shapes that bring to mind gentle hill slopes. Also, the lights include intriguing-looking arrays of shining points which somewhat resemble stars in the night sky. This seems to be a nod to the aforementioned dark-sky park. Thanks to the characteristic and appealing lights, the Izera models have a unique look – there’s no risk of mistaking the prototypes for any other car. Furthermore, Izera’s vehicles are meant to be family-friendly , and this is another thing that links them to their namesake mountain range: With their mild hills and vast areas, the [Izera] mountains are perfect for family trips and have a very distinctive character. Browsing through the works of contemporary Polish artists, we looked for inspirations and reference points to underline the Polish character of our brand . At the same time, it was extremely important to us that the shape of the car evokes positive emotions. After all, this is supposed to be a family car. Apparently, these artists’ works were referenced in the design of the interior (at the unveiling only the hatchback had a fully-furnished interior, the inside of the SUV wasn’t complete yet). Although there’s little information about how exactly the aforementioned artists influenced Izera’s design, it is known that Karpińska’s colour schemes impacted the choice of colours in the interior. The main colour in the interior is a warm ecru or light beige which gives the inside a cosy, family character. This tone is tastefully juxtaposed with blue and black elements. The interior is also rather spacious, which makes it fit for family needs. Another family-friendly aspect of the inside is that it’s equipped with special handles, making it easier for small kids to get into the car. An additional nice touch can be found in the front where there’s a special compartment for a woman’s purse. The modern character of the interior is highlighted by the digital dashboard, which handsomely merges with a digital touchscreen located in the centre of the front. Other state-of-the-art features inside include a wireless smartphone charger and programmable buttons on the steering wheel. The passengers in the rear will be able to use the fold-out tray tables and magnetic phone grips located in the backs of the front seats. When it comes to the cars’ technical details, these seem to be well in line with current developments in the field of electric cars. Once fully ready (after the prototype phase is through), the vehicles will be equipped with lithium-ion batteries that will let you drive up to 400 km on a single charge. The batteries will make use of fast-charge stations as well as home chargers. The top speed of the two Izera models will be distinctly family-friendly too; it won’t exceed 160 km per hour. But the acceleration, on the other hand, will let you experience some motorsport-like emotions ; the cars will reach 100 km per hour in less than 8 seconds! Also, some of the cars’ functions will be accessible via a dedicated smartphone app : Users will be able to download a dedicated app to their smartphone or another mobile device and remotely start air-conditioning when the car is charging. At the unveiling of the prototypes, ElectroMobility Poland announced its plans to put the vehicles into mass production. This caused quite a bit of excitement amongst Polish car aficionados, as Poland hasn’t had a mass-produced domestic car since 2002 when the production of the venerable Polonez came to a halt. That old-school automobile was designed in the 1970s, and although it can sometimes still be seen in Polish streets, it belongs to a past era. Today ElectroMobility Poland is looking to build a car factory in the region of Silesia (the exact spot hasn’t been revealed), where the production of Izeras could start by 2023. The company wants to eventually manufacture 100,000 vehicles per year. Apart from the two models shown in Sokołów, there are plans for three other ones. Little is currently known about these additional models – apart from that they will all, of course, be electric and designed in a similar style to the first two. The prices of the new brand’s vehicles aren’t known yet, but they will supposedly be affordable enough for the average Polish family to purchase. Izera is also planning to export its cars to offer them to buyers outside of Poland. Those concerned with climate change may feel warmly toward the Izera brand. Consumers may soon see multiple EVs for sale under $30,000, which is exciting. But let’s forget about all of that promise right now, and visit the other end of the spectrum. What are some of the most expensive electric vehicles you can buy? Below is a list of what’s currently out there, and what EVs will soon be available for big bucks. Why are electric vehicles so expensive? We can chat all day about this topic, but that might be better suited for its own post. There are many factors at play in the pricing of electric vehicles these days. Supply chains, assembly lines, R&D can all play some part in the MSRP of an electric vehicle before its first sale. Probably the most notable factor today is the cost of batteries. Battery packs are vital to the longevity and performance of any electric vehicle, but they are expensive. Developments in battery technology as well as swapping practices have significantly helped lower the cost of EVs in recent years. However, current battery components are gathered and produced by a select group of manufacturers, like in China for instance. The price of importing multiple resources and parts from overseas, adds to the overall price an automaker must charge consumers to make a profit. Another huge factor is the overall luxury and performance of an EV. Like traditional ICE vehicles, you can purchase something to get you to the grocery store and back, for much less money than a vehicle with power plus all the bells and whistles. The vehicles mentioned below come with plenty of pricey features, even at their most standard models. Most expensive electric vehicles currently available First, we will start with the electric vehicles you can go out and… more fittingly, log on and buy right now. Depending on what country you live in of course. To be clear, this list is the most expensive consumer EVs today. There are plenty of electric supercars out there that cost much more, but they’re not exactly prevalent on roads and highways. This list is a bit more realistic and we will follow up with those exotics in another post. To help build vital anticipation, we will start with the most affordable of the most expensive options, and ascend upward from there. Keep in mind that the prices provided are the MSRPs and do not include any state or federal incentives, upgrades, or customizations unless specifically noted. Tesla Model Y Performance What would a top EV countdown be without a Tesla mention, right? With overdue refreshes to Tesla’s veteran Model S and Model X underway, the Model Y is currently the automaker’s most expensive option available right now. That being said, the Model Y still remains quite affordable compared to the acts to follow below. Tesla’s newest EV began deliveries nearly a year ago and has already seen impressive worldwide sales. The dual-motor Performance trim, which prioritizes speed and acceleration over range, currently starts at a purchase price of $60,990. This does not include any add-ons such as exterior color, interior trim, or full self-driving (FSD) capabilities. Jaguar I-Pace HSE Next is legacy automaker Jaguar’s all-electric offering in the I-Pace SUV. The High-Standard Equipment or HSE trim of the I-Pace offers additional driver assistance. This includes blind spot assist, 360-degree cameras, and high-speed emergency braking. That is also why it costs $11,000 more than the standard I-Pace and makes our list one of the priciest out there right now. The Jaguar I-Pace HSE starts at $80,900 and can go higher as you customize it with features like leather interiors and cold climate packs. NIO ES8 Signature Edition For our third exorbitant vehicle on the list, we venture overseas to the surging EV market in China. NIO has quickly used its quality vehicles and battery swapping technology to earn the title of the “Tesla of China.” The fact that Tesla also competes in the Chinese market technically makes it the Tesla of China, but that’s beside the point! The automaker has seen its ups and downs since a public offering in the NYSE in 2018. However, it has persevered and established itself as a major electric force in China looking to expand globally in the coming years. NIO currently offers three electric SUVs and recently announced an impressive ET7 sedan. We’re not here to chat about that though. Our focus is on the Signature Edition version of NIO’s ES8 SUV. This EV costs ¥566,000 (~$87,600) with the six-seat interior selected. For perspective, that’s ¥196,000 (~$30,000) more than what the Tesla Model Y performance is selling for in China. Porsche Taycan Turbo S Topping our list of the most expensive EVs currently available is the Turbo S version of Porsche’s Taycan. The internationally known sports car manufacturer has presented the Taycan as its first all-electric offering. So far the hype has been immense. After originally presenting the higher-end Taycan trims, customers can now purchase their own electric Porsche for only $80,000! If you have more money from all that bitcoin you’ve been squirreling away, then the Taycan Turbo S might be what you’re looking for. That is if you’re looking for one of the most expensive EVs on the planet right now. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S starts an MSRP of $185,000. Yes, that’s $105,000 more than that boring, standard Taycan we just bragged about. Most expensive electric vehicles coming soon Now that we’ve knocked out a few of the vehicles you can order right from the very smart device you’re currently on, let’s focus on what’s to come. 2021 shines like a beacon of hope after a tumultuous year prior, and that is no different for EVs. Below is a list of some of the most expensive electric vehicles currently scheduled to hit roads this year. Many of the automakers below have multiple vehicle offerings, or at the very least trim alternatives also debuting in 2021. However, to save space and let you get on with your day, we have selected a few of the pricier options for you to peruse and begin saving for. To see all the MSRPs for each model, we have compiled a table for you at the bottom. Rivian R1S Launch Edition Rivian is one of the EV manufacturers with a lot to gain in 2021. Backed by Ford Motors and Amazon, Rivian looks to make a major dent in the electric SUV space, specifically for the outdoorsy consumer. Its first two flagships EVs are scheduled to begin delivering this summer, starting with the R1T pickup in June. The seven-seat R1S SUV is set for August, and its Launch Edition trim starts at a purchase price of $77,500. We are focusing on the R1S over the R1T simply because its starting price for the Launch Edition is $2,500 more. Regardless of Launch Edition price or Rivian model, those trims are already fully reserved. Other trims are scheduled to deliver in 2022. Tesla Model S Plaid+ Again, what would an electric vehicle list be without a shoutout to Tesla? There are multiple spots Tesla vehicles could fit on this list, but we’re talking most expensive this time. That means we have to mention the most expensive Tesla to date, the Model S Plaid+. After teasing Tesla acolytes for months, the automaker finally debuted the much anticipated Plaid powertrain last fall. Plaid’s initial numbers (both performance and price) were quite astonishing. With the aforementioned refresh to the Model S, the Plaid powertrain has now been split into Model S Plaid and Plaid+. The top speed and acceleration of this tri-motor trim remain the same. However, the Plaid+ promises a mile range of 520+ miles on a single charge. That is compared to the 390-mile range on the standard Plaid. While the Plaid is scheduled to deliver in August or September at a price of $119,990, the Plaid+ will be a longer wait… and a larger hit to your wallet. According to Tesla’s website, the Model S Plaid+ will start at a purchase price of $149,990 and does not include any customizations, add-ons, or FSD capabilities. This trim was originally listed as late 2021 for a delivery date but has now been pushed to mid-2022. Audi RS e-Tron GT Despite a global pandemic’s efforts to hamper the automobile market, Audi found success in 2020 with its e-Tron SUV. While the e-Tron itself does not make our list of the most expensive electric vehicles, the freshly announced Audi e-Tron GT certainly does. Audi first unveiled the e-Tron GT concept a few years ago, but only recently debuted the performance sedan to the world… at least officially. In addition to the e-Tron GT, Audi will also be delivering the even quicker RS e-Tron GT. This is the electric vehicle chosen for our list of most expensive. That’s because it starts at a price of $139,900. Both versions of the e-Tron GT are expected to hit dealerships in the U.S. this summer. Lucid Motors Air Dream Edition Last and actually most, is Lucid Motors’ upcoming Air sedan. Lucid first made major waves in the EV world with its Air prototype challenging Tesla’s Model S Plaid on the track. The American automaker now looks to deliver its first EV, the Air sedan in 2021. The first trim available also happens to be its most expensive – the Air Dream Edition. Lucid Motors’ debut EV will enter the market at a whopping $169,000 before any incentives, or add-ons. The Air Dream Edition was currently slated to deliver this spring followed by two, less expensive Air trims in 2021. There is also a standard version of the Air called Pure scheduled to debut in 2022. Now, Lucid has pushed the Dream Edition delivery to the second half of 2021. You may be able to experience a Lucid Studio soon to get a closer look too. The automaker is looking to expand its retail presence in the U.S. before the Air starts delivering. Future cars: The best upcoming cars worth waiting for Cars aren’t just a mode of transportation anymore — they’re becoming large smart devices with wheels. I’m not just referring to EVs. Gasoline-powered vehicles and hybrids are smarter than ever with various driver-assist systems, personal assistants, advanced powertrain technology, and loads of safety features. In the past, future cars were a simple evolution of the model before, but that has completely changed. The competitive nature of the automotive industry coupled with the latest technological advancements will pave the way for future cars that we could have only dreamed of a decade ago. One good example is the Hyundai Prophecy concept, a stunning, self-driving electric car with Blade Runner-like technology. It comes from a company no one thought much about just a few years ago. It’s not alone; we’ve compiled a list of the 20 best future cars that will arrive by 2022. 2021 Rivian R1T and R1S Available in: 2021 Base price: $69,000 (R1T), 72,500 (R1S) Why it’s worth the wait: Because it accelerates like a sports car, can off-road like Land Rover’s Range Rover, and has a quad-motor system (don’t forget about its tank turning ability). The main difference between Rivian‘s R1T and R1S is the body. The basic platform (including the lithium-ion battery pack and the four motors) is the same: the different power outputs, the 125-mph top speed, and the supercar-like acceleration. There are three variants of each model. The most basic one has a 105-kilowatt-hour battery pack that delivers up to 230 miles of range, 402 horsepower, and a zero-to-60-mph time of 4.9 seconds. Next up is a model with a 135-kWh battery, a 300-mile range, a whopping 754 hp, and a three-second sprint to 60. Finally, the 180-kWh model can drive for up to 400 miles between charges, makes 700 hp, and reaches 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The R1T has a 1,764-pound payload capacity and an 11,000-pound towing capacity if you're more into hauling. 2022 Ferrari Purosangue Available in: 2021 Base price: $350,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: This is Ferrari’s first SUV, what else is there to say? For many years, Ferrari promised it would never do what almost every automaker has done: Make an SUV. That’s why the Italian firm prefers the term FUV, which stands for Ferrari Utility Vehicle. Regardless, the Purosangue is going to be good-looking, loud, high-tech, and, of course, exceptionally quick. We don’t expect to find a V12 under the hood, but a hybrid system made up of a twin-turbocharged V8 and one or more electric motors is likely. Early estimates peg its output at over 700 horsepower but under the SF90’s 986-horse rating. All-wheel drive and an adjustable suspension should guarantee at least a smidge of off-road prowess. Visually, the Purosangue will likely borrow a handful of styling cues from the GTC4Lusso hatchback (pictured above). 2021 Audi E-Tron GT Available in: 2021 Base price: $90,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: It’s Audi’s Tesla-fighter. If you squint, you might see some of the Porsche Taycan‘s DNA while looking at the Audi E-Tron GT concept. That’s hardly a surprise: The two electric sedans are built on the same bones. We haven’t seen the production version of Audi’s sleek four-door yet, but the concept is a real head-turner. Its dual-motor powertrain gives it 590 horsepower and allows it to reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds while keeping your foot down will get it to 124 mph in 12 seconds. Audi claims a 249-mile driving range on the European testing cycle. We’ll have a better idea of what the specifications sheet will look like when the production model makes its debut in late 2020. 2022 Polestar 3 Available in: 2021 Base price: $70,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: The 3 will take Volvo-owned Polestar into the SUV segment. Polestar’s 1, a plug-in hybrid coupe, and 2, an electric fastback, are both in production. The firm is now looking ahead to its tallest vehicle yet, the aptly-named 3. Official specifications about this SUV are few and far between but we expect dual-motor all-wheel-drive, about 300 miles of range, and an updated version of the Android-powered infotainment system that made its debut in the 2. From a design standpoint, Polestar told Digital Trends the 3 will draw inspiration from the Precept concept (shown above) unveiled in 2020. Anyone can get an exclusive idea of these cars by watching this video. 2021 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing Available in: 2021 Base price: $65,000 (CT4) (est.), $85,000 (CT5) (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: They’re Cadillac’s next super-sedans. Cadillac still gives a shift. The sedan that will replace the CTS-V will continue to offer a six-speed manual transmission. Those who don’t need or want three pedals will be able to order a 10-speed automatic. Either way, we expect the CT5-V Blackwing will receive Cadillac’s 6.2-liter V8 supercharged to 650 hp. The smaller CT4-V Blackwing (shown above) will replace the excellent ATS-V. It will receive an evolution of its predecessor’s twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter V6 rated at over 465 hp. Transmission options will include a 10-speed automatic and a six-speed stick. To be clear, neither of these high-performance family-haulers will receive the seemingly short-lived Blackwing V8 inaugurated by the CT6-V. This orphan of an engine might not be used again. 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Available in: 2021 (or late 2020) Base price: $36,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: It’s the first purpose-designed electric car Volkswagen will sell in the U.S. The Tiguan-sized ID.4 is an electric crossover that will join Volkswagen’s battery-only ID sub-brand. Although not a ton of information has been released about it, we know a rear-wheel drive, single-motor version will be available at launch and an all-wheel-drive, dual-motor model will join the range a little later. The ID.4 will be built on Volkswagen’s modular MEB platform, which also underpins the Europe-only ID.3 and the ID. Buggy we drove in California in 2019. It will later be joined in showrooms by an electric van inspired by the rear-engined Bus. 2022 Tesla Roadster Available in: 2021 (or 2022) Base price: $200,000 Why it’s worth the wait: This will be Tesla’s most powerful and fastest car. No, we’re not talking about t he original Roadster that Elon Musk launched into space; we’re looking forward to the second-generation model, which will arrive as an electric supercar. The next Roadster will use an extra-large, 200-kWh battery pack that will give it incredible performance. Tesla claims a 1.9-second zero-to-60-mph time (or, if you’re brave, zero-to-100 in 4.3 seconds), an 8.8-second quarter-mile time, and a top speed of over 250 mph. We expect the all-wheel-drive Roadster will pack three electric motors (one upfront and two in the rear) but a two-motor configuration is also possible. The four-seater EV will also offer a generous, 620-mile driving range and a removable glass roof. Tesla is already taking reservations so enthusiasts can make a $5,000 initial deposit and a $45,000 payment within 10 days. The Founders Series Roadster requires a much higher $245,000 payment within 10 days. 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI Available in: 2021 Base price: $29,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: Because it’s a hot hatch icon that’s practical, fun to drive, and affordable. The upcoming eighth-generation GTI has more power than its predecessor. This probably answers your first question. It’s still powered by a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but its output now checks in at 241 hp and 273 lb-ft. of torque compared to 228 and 258, respectively, for the outgoing model. Volkswagen makes a six-speed manual transmission standard but a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is offered at an extra cost. On the tech front, a 10-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster help give the interior a modern and premium look. Expect slightly more space for people and gear thanks to the eighth-gen Golf’s larger dimensions. The GTI will go on sale in Europe before it reaches North America. 2021 BMW i4 Available in: 2021 Base price: $50,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: This is BMW’s answer to the Tesla Model 3. The i4 will be BMW’s third i-badged car when it enters production in Munich, Germany, in 2021. Its 80-kWh lithium-ion battery pack will power a 530-hp powertrain that will unlock a 3.5-second sprint from zero to 60 mph. The range will check in at about 270 miles. We haven’t seen the production version yet, but the concept (shown above) introduced in 2020 gives us an accurate idea of what the model will look like when it lands in showrooms. 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Available in: Late 2020 Base price: $43,895 Why it’s worth the wait: It’s Ford’s first purpose-designed EV. The sporty-looking Mustang Mach-E is an electric crossover, not a sports car, but it’s quick nonetheless. It will be offered in five variants ranging from the entry-level Select to the flagship GT. The range champion will be the rear-wheel-drive California Route 1, which will be capable of driving for about 300 miles between charges. Don’t let the name fool you; the Mach-E shares nothing with the two-door Mustang. It’s electric, and it’s packed with cutting-edge tech features like a portrait-oriented touchscreen on the center stack. 2021 BMW M3 and M4 Available in: 2020 Base price: $40,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: It’s the latest in a long line of driver-friendly BMW models. Rear-wheel drive and manual transmission? Yes, please! Don’t worry if that’s not for you; an automatic transmission will also be available. All-wheel drive will join the list of options for the first time, too. Purists will undoubtedly shun this version but it will be a little bit quicker than the rear-wheel-drive variant. The next-generation M3 (and its two-door counterpart, the M4) will share their twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter straight-six with the X3 M. It makes 473 hp and 442 lb-ft. of torque in its most basic state of tune, and 503 hp in Competition trim. Time will tell if BMW keeps these figures for its lower models or if it builds on them. 2021 Mercedes EQC Available in: 2021 Base price: $67,900 Why it’s worth the wait: It’s the most convincing electric car from Mercedes-Benz to date. Mercedes-Benz delayed the North American launch of its electric EQC crossover by a year, so we’ll have to wait and see what the three-pointed star’s answer to Tesla is really like. Fortunately, for us, we have plenty of information about this dual-motor, all-wheel-drive electric car. The powertrain generates 402 hp and 561 lb-ft. of torque, which launches the EQC to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. An 80-kWh battery pack powers the motors. Its range should check-in at approximately 220 miles, though we won’t know for sure until it lands on our shores. The EQC will offer a long list of driver-assistance features and dual 10.25-inch touchscreens — one for the digital instrument cluster, and the second for the infotainment system. Pricing starts at $67,900 before incentives. 2022 GMC Hummer Available in: Late 2021 Base price: $70,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: It’s GMC’s entry into the electric truck segment. Like many electric trucks, the GMC Hummer will have a lot of big numbers to brag about. How do three motors and 1,000 horsepower sound? Or, a three-second sprint to 60 mph? GMC will offer one-, two-, and three-motor variants of the born-again Hummer. Its large, 200-kWh battery pack will unlock up to 400 miles of driving range, though smaller batteries will be available. Production will take place in Detroit, in the same factory that once built Chevrolet’s Volt and Impala models, and the pickup will reach showrooms at about the same time as some of its rivals, including the Rivian R1T and the electric Ford F-150. 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Available in: Late 2021 Base price: $40,000 (est.), $50,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: Because they will be Jeep’s biggest and most luxurious models. The Grand Cherokee is big, but it’s not big enough. Considering Jeep is an off-roader specialist in a world dominated by high-riding models, it’s a little odd to notice it doesn’t have a full-size, three-row SUV to compete with the Ford Expedition and the Chevrolet Tahoe, among others. That will change in the early 2020s. Jeep confirmed it’s bringing back the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer nameplates on a pair of SUVs that will share their body-on-frame construction with the surprisingly docile Ram 1500 pickup. They’ll get an independent rear suspension, up to three rows of seats, and a wide panoply of powertrains including hybrid and diesel options. The luxurious Grand Wagoneer will chase the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator into the six-digit territory. 2022 Tesla Cybertruck Available in: Late 2021 (or 2022) Base price: $39,900 Why it’s worth the wait: It’s the first electric truck from the company that started the EV craze. Before we dive into the specs and pricing, remember that this futuristic-looking truck has an outer exterior shell (or exoskeleton) made of what Tesla calls ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel. It also has what the company calls armor glass, glass and polymer layered composite that is made to be stronger than regular glass, though this didn’t work as advertised in 2019. And, the cargo box is configured to hold (and charge) an electric ATV. The Cybertruck will come in three flavors. The base, rear-wheel-drive single-motor version ($39,900) will have a driving range of up to 250 miles, a 7,500-pound towing capacity, and a 6.5-second zero-to-60-mph time. The mid-range, all-wheel-drive model ($49,900) will have a 300-mile range, a 10,000-pound towing capacity, and a 4.5-second zero-to-60 time. Finally, the flagship model ($69,900) will drive for about 500 miles between charges, tow 14,000 pounds, and reach 60 in 2.9 seconds. An autopilot and an air suspension will be standard on every variant. 2021 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport Available in: Late 2020 (or early 2021) Base price: $32,000 (Bronco, est.), $28,000 (Bronco Sport, est.) Why it’s worth the wait: The legendary Bronco nameplate returns to compete against the Jeep Wrangler. The Bronco is back, and it has the emblematic Jeep Wrangler in its crosshairs. This rugged, body-on-frame off-roader will be available with two or four doors and both versions will come with a removable top. Adventurers will also be able to remove the doors and fold down the windshield. Ford has done its best to keep the design under wraps until the model’s official unveiling but a variety of leaked images revealed it ahead of time. Sources close to the Blue oval suggest the entry-level engine will be an evolution of the turbocharged, 2.3-liter four-cylinder that equips the Ranger. V6 engines from the F-150 might appear on the list of options. Rumors claim a 10-speed automatic transmission will be standard, and a seven-speed manual with a granny gear will be optional. Aimed right at Jeep’s Compass, the smaller Bronco Sport won’t be as rugged but it should still be capable when the going gets tough. It will be built on a unibody platform shared with the new Escape, and it will receive three- and four-cylinder engines depending on the trim level. Hybrid power will be available sooner or later, too. Both variants of the Bronco — which won’t share anything other than a name — will make their debut in 2020. 2022 Ford F-150 Electric Available in: 2022 (or late 2021) Base price: $60,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: It’s the electric version of America’s most popular truck. Unlike the other electric trucks on the list, there is currently little information on the F-150 Electric (prototype pictured above). Besides its ability to tow a train, which isn’t as impressive as it might sound, we don’t know much about it. It’s safe to say this pickup will offer quick acceleration (zero-to-60-mph in about four seconds), a driving range in the vicinity of 300 miles, and multiple motor configurations with different power outputs. Regardless of specifications, the electric F-150 will have plenty of competition when it goes on sale. It will be interesting to see if Ford’s hot-selling trucks can continue outselling their rivals in the EV world. 2020 Audi RS6 Avant Available in: 2020 Base price: $109,000 Why it’s worth the wait: It’s a fast, gorgeous super-wagon — and a rare thing in America. Audi is finally bringing the high-performance RS 6 Avant to the United States. It was worth the wait because it packs a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 that sends 591 hp and 590 lb-ft. of torque to the four wheels via Audi’s time-tested Quattro system. These figures correspond to a 3.5-second sprint to 60 mph, though that’s likely a conservative number and a 190-mph top speed. It’s high-tech, too, thanks in part to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that keeps fuel economy in check and a long list of driver-assistance features. Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a pair of large, high-resolution color touchscreens for the infotainment system. This is arguably the hottest-looking Audi available in 2020, though the RS 7 Sportback isn’t far behind. 2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Available in: 2021 (or late 2020) Base price: $109,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: It’s the most practical version of the Porsche Taycan and it’s a wagon. Somehow, a second wagon landed on this list. It’s not your average family hauler; this wagon is electric and, best of all, it’s a Porsche. Positioned as a more spacious evolution of the Taycan, the Cross Turismo will get a more rugged design and a few additional inches of ground clearance to allow for light off-roading. We expect it will be identical to its sedan counterpart under the sheet metal, so it will post impressive performance numbers. 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Available in: 2021 Base price: $99,000 (est.) Why it’s worth the wait: Except for models from brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley, the Mercedes S-Class has been the benchmark of large luxury sedans for decades. It’s a little easier to forget the high price when you purchase such a highly advanced piece of technology. Until recently, it would have been weird to say that a vehicle is a technological masterpiece. However, with all the incredible innovations and improvements within the auto industry, we’ll certainly be seeing and experiencing first-hand the aftereffects in our vehicles. We’re confident that brand new features like driver assistance will astound anyone without prior experience with similar systems. One of the many exceptional upgrades to the vehicle’s interior is a vertical touchscreen on the dashboard. If you love screens, you’ll love this new feature. With this vehicle, you’ll get four additional screens in separate areas throughout the car, offering an entirely new dynamic experience between driver and car. Thanks to a 3D Digital Instrument Cluster, drivers can connect with their car environments in seemingly impossible ways. The S500 model offers a hefty 429 hp 3.0-liter motor. With the EQ boost mild-hybrid system, you could increase your horsepower to 450hp. Those seeking exceptional performance and comfort will receive a 500hp motor and plug-in hybrid feature with the S580 model. Both models provide rear-wheel steering to help you out during difficult parking situations. The S-Class features a hydro-pneumatic suspension system (much like the one installed in the GLC) for optimal comfort and a bump-free ride. We believe the S-Class is in a stable place to triumph over all competitors within the luxury hybrid market. We’ll see how it plays out over time, but it will be fun to watch what happens in the market. Customers looking for a luxury EV should check out the EQS, set to release in the early 2020s.
There’s all sorts of speculation, of course. As far as maximum range, prior to release, you mostly have to infer that from the design and proposed price, since lithium battery, electric motor and other BEV technologies are constantly evolving. Manufactured by some of the biggest names in the automotive industry, these beasts are ready to bring an evolution along with them! So without further ado, here are 7 future cars worth waiting for in 2021-2025! 7 Future Cars Worth Waiting For In 2021-2025! 1. 2021 Alfa Romeo GTV it’s tough not to fall in love with the 2021 Alfa Romeo GTV. The 2-door sports sedan looks like it has just driven right out of our dreams. It is expected to be equipped with the Quadrifoglio’s 505-hp twin-turbo V-6 and give up to 600 horsepower. 2. 2024 Aston Martin Vanquish Aston Martin’s next 2024 Vanquish to come out in 2023. It is expected to be a mid-engine supercar and expected to be the ideal replacement for the Ferrari F8 Tributo, Lamborghini’s Huracán, McLaren 720S, and 765LT! The concept car was first featured at the 2019 Geneva auto show (picture above) and is expected to be priced at $300,000. 3. 2021 Audi E-Tron GT Audi’s e-Tron GT is a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model S. Audi aims to give its future customers at least 250 miles of driving range and nearly 600 horsepower from a pair of electric motors. Underneath, it comes equipped with the J1 architecture developed for likes like Porsche Taycan EV. 4. 2024 BMW I8 M BMW is working on an exciting project, which is a follow-up of their i8 halo car. The 2019 BMW Vision M Next concept car is yet to be named, but according to a couple of reports, it will be titled the i8 M and is a promising replacement for its popular predecessor. Just look at that gorgeous body, sleek design, and those gorgeous headlights! 5. 2021 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing The CT5-V Blackwing is yet another one of the most promising future cars to come. It will be a sports sedan ready to take-on its follow competitors in the market, including Audi RS models and AMG. Cadillac is expected to give this ride a sexy 650 horsepower with either a 10-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission accompanied with a 6.2-litre supercharged V-8 engine. 6. 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is yet another beat that looks absolutely stunning! It will also be one of many ultra-performing variants of the C8 Corvette. We expect the model to be out by the end of 2021 or the starting of 2022 minimum with a price-tag of at least $85,000. It is to be equipped with a 600-plus horsepower naturally aspirated DOHC 32-valve 5.5-litre V-8 engine, and just like a Ferrari V-8, it will have a flat-plane crank. We expect it to give and should rev between 8500 and 9000 rpm. 7. 2021 Maserati MC20 Last but not least, the Maserati MC20 is another super-future car we look forward to. The 6-figure Italian ride is expected to be offered in a coupe trim as well as a convertible. The manufacturer has promised its customers that the MC20 will mark a new phase in the brand’s history.
