What new cars are coming in 2019?

The new cars that should be coming to showrooms near you in 2019, SUVs, Bharat Stage 6, plug-in hybrid, electric, autonomous cars and, in the case of a few anticipated launches on this list, a mix of most of the above combined! Here's your ready reckoner of the top new hatches, sedans, SUVs, hybrids, electric cars, and luxury vehicles coming to India in 2019, to help you plan your purchase better. HATCHBACKS WagonR Maruti Suzuki has been tight-lipped about it, but we know it will be based on the Japanese-spec car (in terms of dimensions) with restyled exteriors more in tune with Indian sensibilities. Expect a new, more spacious cabin, the existing engines with an AMT option, and all the premium features you see on larger Marutis. How much? Rs 5 lakh, expected When? Jan 2019 Honda Brio New-gen small Honda has hit-or-miss styling and loses the unique glass rear hatch, though it is a size larger than the previous Brio. Good news is the cabin is similar to what's on the new Jazz, so that does move it up a notch in terms of quality and space on offer. How much? Rs 5 lakh onwards, expected When? Late 2019 Tata 45X-production version Premium hatchback from Tata, based on the beautiful 45X concept from the Expo, expected to break cover sans camouflage. It'll go up against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and pack the Revotron and Revotorq engines, so expect the same. How much? Rs 5.5-8 lakh, expected When? Late 2019 SEDANS Honda Civic We've seen it and wanted it at the Auto Expo last year, and Honda will do one better – the facelifted tenth gen Civic is what we'll get. Expect the new 1.6-litre diesel as in the CR-V, and the familiar 1.8-litre petrol under the hood. How much? Rs 16-21 lakh, expected When? Early-2019 Hyundai Elantra New-gen sedan swaps curves for sharp, angular lines and distinctive triangular headlights. The cabin should be nicer too, with the new 8-inch floating touchscreen taking centre stage, apart from Hyundai's SmartSense passive safety technology making it safer than before. How much? Rs 15-20 lakh, expected When? Mid 2019 BMW 3-Series It's the size of one of the last generation 5-Series, so you're technically getting your money's worth. New-gen car also moves BMW interiors into the future, finally. As to how it drives, head to our first drive review for more. How much? Rs 45 lakh, expected When? Mid 2019 SUVs Mahindra XUV300 The XUV300, is a sub-4m SUV based on the SsangYong Tivoli , and will likely have the most powerful 1.5-litre diesel in its class, as borrowed from the Marazzo. In its sights will be the likes of Maruti Suzuki's best-selling Vitara Brezza, while the 2020-planned electric version has the future in mind. How much? Rs 7.5-10 lakh, expected When? Feb 2019 Hyundai Carlino Styx, Carlino, QXi… whatever it ends up being named, the compact SUV will be Hyundai's answer to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (everyone's aiming to surpass the benchmark) and will have similar design elements as the Kona. We expect to see new engines – a 1-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. How much? Rs 8-10.5 lakh, expected When? Early-2019 Nissan Kicks Larger than the one sold abroad, and with premium interiors to help lift Nissan's fortunes in India. It's selling point will be the beat-all ride quality (as we found out at our first outing with the SUV ), while fully-modern infotainment and features will sweeten the deal. The familiar 1.5 diesel and petrol engines continue to do duty under the hood. How much? Rs 9.5-14.5 lakh, expected When? Jan 2019 Renault Duster Renault dusts off the scalpel, with the next-generation of their best-selling Duster, sold internationally with the same-name but with Dacia badging. The result is immediately recognisable but with a more steeply raked windscreen, larger grille, modern lighting at both ends, and new, functional interiors to help bring the good ol' butch SUV into 2019. How much? Rs 9-14 lakh, expected When? June 2019 KIA Tusker Seen as the SP Concept at the Expo, this Creta-based-rival will introduce India to KIA, the Korean sister-brand of Hyundai. With edgier exteriors and plusher interiors, the Tusker/Trazor should offer an ever-so-polished experience as what the Creta offers, considering it shares engine options with the Creta (expect 1.6-litre petrol and diesel versions, not the 1.4). How much? Rs 10-15 lakh, expected When? May 2019 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Facelift of everyone's favourite pickup gets more aggressive front end styling, not that it needed it. Big news is the new BS6 compliant 1.9-litre diesel with 150PS/350Nm, and a six-speed automatic. How much? Rs 15.5 lakh, expected When? May 2019 Tata Harrier The largest SUV in the segment (including the Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500 ), the newest Tata draws from the Land Rover connection. Only available with a 2-litre diesel, in two-wheel drive and with a manual gearbox but first impressions are very, very promising. How much? Rs 14-20 lakh, expected When? Jan 2019 MG SUV When? Mid 2019 Hyundai Tucson The facelift brings with it the new family face cascading grille, tweaked lighting details and a new floating touchscreen. There is a new 1.6-litre turbo petrol, with 177PS and 265Nm, on offer internationally, though it's unsure if we'll get it. How much? Rs 19-27 lakh, expected When? May 2019 Skoda Karoq The Yeti's replacement globally, the Karoq has the same no-nonsense styling of its bigger brother, the Kodiaq. We expect to see a 2-litre diesel under the hood of this Hyundai Tucson rival, if not a 1.5-litre petrol as well. How much? Rs 22-28 lakh, expected When? May 2019 Ford Endeavour Basic cosmetic updates, and addition of a few features (Apple/Android connectivity and finally a start/stop button) but the big news is the possibility of a smaller 2-litre EcoBlue diesel engine with 177PS and 420Nm torque with a 10-speed automatic, as currently on sale in certain international markets. How much? Rs 27-35 lakh, expected When? May 2019 Audi Q3 Next-generation midsize crossover ditches shrinking-violet styling for something a lot sportier. Thankfully is larger inside and out, and gets a proper modern Audi cabin, with all the bells and whistles. We expect the same range of engines to continue. How much? Rs 37-45 lakh, expected When? March 2019 BMW X4 Scaled-down X6, based on the X3, priced under the X5. About sums up the smaller of the two-coupe SUVs from BMW. Expect a four-cylinder petrol and six-cylinder diesel. How much? Rs 55-65 lakh, expected When? Early 2019 BMW X5 Best-selling BMW SUV is, surprise, surprise, larger than before, and with lighter materials, and air suspension all around. We hear a six-cylinder petrol will be added to the line-up in India. We've driven the new X5 and you can read what we think about it here. How much? Rs 75-80 lakh, expected When? May 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE The most advanced Mercedes-Benz on roads in mid-2019 will not be the S-Class, but the new GLE. Completely re-engineered, the GLE will debut a range of new engines, a third row of seats and advanced suspension technology, apart from cabin tech. Head to our first drive for an overview of what it's like to drive. How much? Rs 85 lakh, expected When? August 2019 Audi Q8 The first coupe-SUV from Audi, it becomes the SUV flagship, over the Q7, which it essentially is under its skin. Thankfully, future Q models will have more styling cues derived from it than the Q7. How much? Rs 1 crore, expected When? Mid 2019 HYBRIDS Honda Accord Hugely different from the current model, the tenth gen is lower, lighter and a tech powerhouse. Expect only the hybrid, with a next-gen powertrain. How much? Rs 40 lakh, expected When? End 2019 Toyota Camry Eighth-gen Camry is more spacious (remember, it shares its platform with the Lexus ES 300h), and will offer slightly more electric-only range from its 2.5-litre plus electric motor powertrain. How much? Rs 40 lakh, expected When? Early 2019 ELECTRIC Mahindra eKUV Not fazed by the slow sales of the e2o and eVerito, Mahindra has an electric compact SUV on the cards. We hope to see Mahindra Electric's updated tech, with high density batteries and range of up to 350km, in it. How much? Rs 8 lakh, expected When? June 2019 WagonR EV Maruti Suzuki's EV plans revolve around this prototype, of which many have been spotted testing around the nation's capital. It's based on the Japan-spec WagonR which utilises the Heartect platform, and is expected to have a range of around 200km on a single charge. We, however, will get the electric version of the next-gen WagonR headed our way early in the year. How much? Rs 10 lakh, expected When? End 2019, early 2020 Hyundai Kona EV A bold statement for Hyundai, the India-assembled Kona will only be available as a pure-electric model and will have a 39kWh battery for a little over 300km of driving range on a single charge. How much? Rs 25 lakh, expected When? April 2019 Nissan Leaf All-electric hatchback with a claimed 400km driving range from its 40kWh battery also boasts semi-autonomous capabilities, and a brand new face. Want more details on the best-selling pure electric car ever? Head to our first-drive review. How much? Rs 30 lakh, expected When? Late 2019 Audi e-tron The first electric Audi will do 400km plus on a single charge of its 95kWh battery, propulsion via twin-electric motors on each axle. Read our impressions from our first drive for more. How much? Rs 1.3 crore onwards, expected When? Will the German car giants ever catch Tesla?

I don’t know if this is cheating, but I found this on line: Mar 29, 2020 - 08:19 pm German carmakers behind the curve in electric cars With the impressive Porsche Taycan, German engineers have shown all their skills. It proves that continued inaction is the highest risk for German domestic brands. At the same time, outdated vehicle designs remain electric top sellers. The Taycan is a Porsche through and through. More filigree than the baroque Panamera and with the highest quality finish. Precise, perfect and dynamic. The Taycan is not only fast on the drag strip, but also in curves. It is almost absurd how it hugs corners with rear-wheel steering and active roll compensation. And if the charge power indicator on the DC column continues to rise at 250 kilowatts (kW), it becomes clear: resistance is futile. This car is awesome. The price starts at 105,607 euros, for the Taycan Turbo with several options are starting at €175,483.80 – yet Porsche continuously caters on a luxury market so there will be clients. Luxury or not, the Taycan is an outstanding electric car and a testament to the skill of German engineers. It is both a reminder and an incentive: either the domestic car industry will promptly introduce further models at this level of engineering. Or it will lose market share worldwide to those who act. Anyone who opts for Tesla once will not come back so quickly. Tesla’s trump card is and will remain its unique position in many segments. For example, there is simply no alternative to Model 3, so the question arises: Germany, where are you, where are your top electric cars? Volkswagen under pressure? The greatest concern in this respect is currently with Volkswagen. It is noticeable that the number of new registrations of e-Up and e-Golf has been particularly high since the beginning of the year, and the discounts on list prices are the same. Volkswagen needs these battery-electric cars because they will enter the CO2 fleet balance as double zero in 2020: So-called supercredits ensure double crediting. One would assume that ID.3 could take over this task from late summer, but despite all denials, doubts are growing. Perhaps the software problems are bigger than previously communicated. And anyway: If the European market collapses – how many ID.3 will still be needed to compensate for the average CO2 values of the entire fleet? Probably a few less. The launch of ID.3 is also a credibility test. Last we received signals that the e-Golf is to be produced until the beginning of November. This does not inspire confidence. The Wolfsburg-based group is at the beginning of a severe crisis. The production ramp-up of the Golf 8 is not going as well as desired. Only 8,392 units were built in 2019. It is the best-selling car in Europe, but something is wrong. Works council chairman Bernd Osterloh names “overzealous board members who tried to stuff too much technology into a car” as the cause. An apparent confirmation of the thesis that bits and bytes are not working in Germany. BMW and Mercedes still a long way off The fact that Tesla has blatant weaknesses in service and complaints about fluctuating quality is of secondary importance to buyers. Besides Porsche and Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes could also build first-class electric cars – but so far this remains in the realm of theory and conjuncture. At the Geneva Motor Show, or what was left of it, BMW presented another pre-version of the i4. Finally, a competitor to the Tesla Model 3, if it weren’t for a set launch in 2021 – without the month. And Mercedes has a whole armada of promising prototypes, from the EQB compact SUV to the EQS and EQE sedans. In series, however, only the Smart is available and, oh yes, the EQC, of which 109 units hit the road in February. Audi has awakened – almost At Audi, the realization that the market is shifting and requires adaptation has taken hold. In addition to the e-tron quattro, which offers the most stable temperature management of all electric cars, Audi offers the e-tron Sportback. Even more importantly, sales of the e-tron S will begin in the summer with two e-machines on the rear axle, which ensure perfect torque vectoring. At Tesla, this is called Plaid drive, and so far it is merely an announcement by Elon Musk. The modern Quattro presents the first ray of hope for the company slogan Vorsprung durch Technik (German for progress through technology). This is to be followed by the e-tron GT based on the Porsche Taycan and the Q4 e-tron as the first MEB model from the Ingolstadt-based company. It is a general shame that already outdated designs such as Renault Zoe, Volkswagen e-Golf and BMW i3 remain among the top sellers, and even Tesla Model S and Model X are off the Raven drive of yesterday. Besides, battery systems without active temperature management are offered too often – electric cars are, in many cases, a technical residual ramp. And for German industry, in the shape of the BMW Group, Daimler AG and Volkswagen AG, this means a mandate to work even harder to build the best electric cars in the world. In this decade, the battery-electric drive is an addition to the combustion engine. Listless participation is no longer enough. Or, to say it with Mercedes: Build the best or nothing. Reporting from Christoph M. Schwarzer, Germany. Tesla is also building Gigafactory 3 near Berlin; they have already broken ground. This should provide additional incentive for the German car makers to get moving. Will the Germans every catch Tesla? Only time will tell, ·

Is JLR lines up its first EV in India, I-Pace?

The all-new Jaguar I-Pace is launched on 23rd march 2021. It is the car maker's first-ever Electric vehicle in India. Now let us talk about the car in-depth:- Jaguar I-Pace is an electric crossover SUV. It will compete with Mercedes EQC and Audi E-Tron. It is priced at around 1.4 Cr on-road Mumbai. Exterior:- The front design of the car looks aggressive and sharp. This car has the best drag coefficient in the segment as we can see the air damps below the daytime running matrix(optional) led lights. There are active fins as well so that when required battery gets air as well. The grille is not packed completely it is made such that to reduce the drag(as we can see in the below picture). The side profile of the car looks very similar to the coupe design. From the side, it looks very sharp as well with the charging socket given on the side. Cladding placement has written which trim of the car it is. It has also got good 19-inch wheels as well. In my perspective it does looks like URUS from the side (let me know your opinion on this as well in the comment section). From the backside, it looks like typical modern jaguar SUVs But it looks good overall with the previous jaguar logo the center With badging of I-Pace and EV400(which mean 400 is the total power produced). Taillights look very sporty as well. Interior:- The interior of the car looks very premium and with great fit and finish. It has got all the updated versions of the infotainment system. With all the connectivity with a 10-inch touch as we can see in the above picture and a smaller 5.5-inch touchscreen below and between ac knobs. It has a MID in the instrument cluster(as we can see in the above picture) There is a small shelf for wireless charging below the smaller touch screen. The steering of the car looks very sporty and the ergonomics of the car is very well done. The feature list of the car is very long with auto LED lights, auto wipers, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, heads up display, powdered tailgate,380W Meridian audio system, Wireless charging, etc Safety features are also appreciable with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, Traction control, Front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, etc, etc There is a magazine holder below your seat as well which is very cool I guess. I-PACE’s 90 kWh battery is designed for good long distances. I-PACE is propelled by two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors integrated with the front and rear axles. These motors provide 294 kW and 696 Nm of useable instant torque. With built-in All Wheel Drive traction, I-PACE accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. IMPORTANT QUESTION ALERT!!! Ek charge meh Kitna chalegi?*range of the battery in single charge?* A 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack rests below the cabin floor and provides enough juice for 480km. Charging up to 80 percent takes 40 minutes using a DC fast charger or 10 - 12hours with a normal AC charger. The boot space of the car is approx 550 liters and with active suspension as an option, they say 520–530 liters. The good factor of this model is you can customize the car according to you which alloy wheels you want, various optional features, various optional colors as well. Well this is all from my side of the review it is just the rough detailed review but you can download the brochure from the link attached below https://www.jaguar.in/Images/Jaguar-I-PACE-Brochure-1X5902100000BINEN03P_tcm635-824117.pdf Hope you liked my answer :) Comment down what do you think about the future of electric cars in India Let's end it with a quote:- Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity, not as a threat.

What do people not like about the Tesla model 3?

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ll speak from my personal point of view. And I want to preface this by saying that the Model 3 is a very nice car, but you asked for the negatives. These are the problems I had with it: It was smaller than what I was looking for - I was looking at it as a trade-up for the Chevy Volt that I had and really liked. No gas engine to accomodate means a lot more interior room, and the pictures online made the rear-seat look cavernous compared to the Volt (of course). I really liked the Volt, but I have a 6 year old, so I was looking at options. When we got to the showroom and sat in it, it was clear right away that it wasn’t noticeably bigger than the Volt for rear seat, and maybe actually smaller. Price - yes, it’s a Tesla, and they’re trying to position themselves as a luxury sport equivalent along the lines of an Audi or BMW. The problem is, the big performance that you feel is kind of inherent in electric motors period. If you test drive a Volt (or Bolt) and compare to Tesla Model 3, it’s hard to see $15k more worth of car there. There’s just not. If it were a $3k premium for the model 3, okay, probably. At $5k it’s tough to justify - at $15k-20k we’re too far apart to even talk. The front end - the front bumper cover looks like someone is trying to smother a regular car by pulling a sheet of plastic over its face. It looks like a horror movie filmed in the World of Disney’s Cars. It kinda works on the new Model S, but on the model 3 it’s too far gone. The message is to think of it like a Porsche front end, but it’s not. Round the front more and make it less tall, make the lip more pronounced. Just adding the little lip like the Model S has would make a huge difference. According to my wife, if you squint and catch just the right color at just the right angle, the best it ever gets is ‘acceptable’. I don’t like it, she absolutely hates it, and considers it in the same league as the Nissan Cube. Center tablet. This just looks like an iPad glued to the dashboard. If you’re going to do this, just make a casing and let me use a real iPad with an app, it’ll be cheaper for you to produce and cheaper for me to replace. I’m sorry, this is just really cheap looking. At least one person was pulled over for having a laptop open in his field of view and had to prove it was attached to the car. This is a fad not peculiar to Tesla, but this is maybe the worst implementation of it I’ve seen. Lack of gauges in front of you - This is related to the center tablet. I get it, you made it cheaper to produce by only having to make one dashboard for left hand and right hand drive models. Just like the Toyota Echo did. Except the Toyota Echo was under $10k. Right now you’re doing good to get a Model 3 less than $50k out the door after taxes and fees. That’s not acceptable. Why not make a dash that has a decorative panel on it, then you can use the same instrument cluster on both sides, and just put a decorative panel over the other? Or you know what? GIVE ME A Heads Up Display. If people already get into accidents because they’re looking over to play with the radio, you’ve now forced them to look over there constantly just to see how fast they’re going. If you projected the speed and range in front of me at all times, then I could tolerate it maybe. Without it, this is dumb. (Maybe) The dashboard itself is like an art piece. I can’t tell if I like it or not, it definitely will inspire conversation. It looks like something out of a speedboat more than a car. The full width vent is an interesting concept, but without having to live with it, I can’t say for sure how I’d feel about it. My initial thought sitting in it was “That’s… weird.” Perceived Value - this is similar to price but not quite. The problem is, say that you feel this is a great car and you don’t mind the other things that are pointed out, the looks, the lack of gauges, etc. By the end of 2019, the $35k version is going to be out. Even though that’s a ways out for now, it’s going to happen while you’re still making payments for sure. Even now, more so when that happens, it’s always going to be ‘the cheap Tesla’. And it’s definitely not cheap! It’s still a good car, don’t get me wrong! But to put it in a different perspective for car people out there, remember the Porsche 944? Exactly. Actual Value - this was the showstopper for me. Go to the configurator. Pick out a Model 3 - Dual Motor - 19″ wheels - any color except for base black - upgraded interior - add AutoPilot. As of today, the price for this is $50,200 AFTER savings. (That’s if you get it within the next 2 weeks, if it’s delivered in January, the price goes up $3750) BEFORE the savings, that’s $62,000. So instead, I bought a certified pre-owned Model S, through Tesla - dual motor, not-black, 19″ wheels, upgraded interior, upgraded interior lighting, with AutoPilot, with 22k miles, 4 year warranty (just like the new ones), INCLUDES unlimited Supercharging. There’s a small ding in one door, and a scratch under the front lip where someone scraped the parking curb. I spent $52,000, and I don’t mind saying, that’s not the deal of a lifetime, that’s about average, and there were plenty of options for me at that price. Would you pay an extra $1,800 to have a fully-loaded Model S instead of a Model 3? Even though you’re not the first owner? I would. The Model S backseat IS cavernous, it has a REAL gauge cluster (did you know part of the gauge cluster shows your nav route when you’re using nav? I didn’t and that’s really cool), it has a dashboard that doesn’t look like it came out of a speedboat, and it has the front end that my wife and I both like best. The Model 3 is a good car, but I just don’t think it’s worth it right now. If you’re after electric at a $35–40k price point, look at the Chevy Bolt/Volt, the VW e-Golf, Audi A3 e-Tron, the Honda Clarity, the Hyundai Sonata-whatever it is —or wait until the cheaper Model 3 comes (and then cross shop, it may still not be as good a deal as the others). If you’re fine paying at the $50k price point, buy a used Model S or Model X - pretty much anything under 30k miles gets a 4 year warranty like new rather than the 2 year, and now you’re buying a $80k car for $25–30k less. If you simply MUST have new, and are fine paying $54k (because you won’t get it before the end of December at this point) for a car that’s going to be available for almost $20,000 less than that by the end of the year, then I don’t think you’ll be unhappy with the car at all. It’s a good car, and it’s proof that you can drive electric and not compromise… it just wasn’t a good deal for me.

What could explain Tesla getting outsold by the much inferior Audi E-Tron in Norway?

“Much inferior” depends a lot on your point of view. Tesla has been a mainstream brand in Norway for years, and have in that time “successfully” defended the American automotive industry’s reputation in Europe for poor quality. A lot of people have simply been holding out for their beloved German premium manufacturers to come up with an alternative. (see my opening and closing comments, written in 2015, to Christian Bull's answer to What are the biggest complaints from owners of a Tesla car?) Now that the e-Tron is here it has released a lot of pent up demand for a non-American premium EV. Furthermore, sedans are not popular in Norway. The popularity of the Model S and Model 3 has been in spite of their form factor. Norwegians vastly prefer wagons/estate cars and SUVs, which is why the Model X has outsold the Model S by a considerable margin here. The electric car market is very mature in Norway - fully electric cars are, and have been for some time, the most popular “fuel.” This means that Norwegians are far less obsessed with range. Norwegians have caught on to the fact that for the vast majority of people a real world range of 250 km per charge is more than enough. We also have several extensive fast charging networks. 100+ kW chargers are widely available, so on the rare occasion that you need to go more than 250 km in a single day, it’s not so much of an inconvenience to stop for a charge that it’s worth paying a lot extra for. Finally, and probably most importantly, it’s the price. The base e-Tron 50 is significantly cheaper than a base Model X, which is a very expensive car (NOK 499.900 vs. 845.900). Sure, you can easily spec an e-Tron 55 to be at least as expensive as a Model X, and it will in many ways be an inferior car, but the e-Tron covers a much wider market. The Model Y, which looks perfectly suited for the Norwegian market, is still a year away from deliveries in Norway. The e-Tron 50 base model. The “decor” on those 19″ wheels is a sticker!
