Why doesn't the Netherlands have any car brands like other European countries?
There are no large manufacturers anymore. Just some niche brands like for instance ,Donkervoort, or ,Carver (automotive company),. DAF Trucks, still exists as manufacturer of trucks, but also produced passenger cars between 1958 and 1975. These cars featured the first ,Continuously variable transmission,. What went wrong? Sadly this innovative transmission wasn't embraced by the European public. The image of a car for women and the elderly discouraged many potential buyers. As the economical prosperity increased the demand for simple cars shifted to more luxurious models. Production and development costs increased over time. Only by scaling the production was it possible for manufacturers to remain competitive. Volvo took over the company and plant in 1975. The latest DAF design of a more modern car, the DAF 77, was produced as ,Volvo 300 Series, until 1991. The ,Volvo 440/460, and ,Volvo 480 ,models were produced in the former DAF plant until 2001. Nowadays the plant still exists as contract manufacturer, first for Mitsubishi, later for Mini. The DAF 77 concept car that was produced as Volvo 300 series. Thank you for asking, Vince!

Wanna accidentally smash into the back of a tank, and have the tank take more damage than you? That’s when you knew you got a Volvo. Near indestructible, can rollover at least 5 or 6 times before damage is actually needing minor repair. If it rolls once, don’t expect more than a scratch or dent. Yes I’m serious, rolled and has a dent. Varying price 500–4000 Ford Mustang - 80s-early 2000s. Mustang is a legacy name - but - for no reason - original “fast” mustang had 225 horse. With the top engine. Late 60s were ok, early 70s good, mid 70s goes down the toilet. Foxbody Mustang. Ugh. Ugly and weak but if you want your kid to think he drives something strong, while you know it has less power than a new Prius, yes 105–121 horse, than get a Foxbody 4 cylinder. After that, they are disposable garbage. 1000–9000 Ford Crown Victoria The Mustang has 225 horse. The crown Vic has 4.6 Liters of pony power (about 264 depending on police tunes) and if you buy the additions or it comes with them spotlights grille guard iron cage rear seats dummy lights dummy antennas extra equipment black and white paint job then you can persuade all that are around you to put their phones down and drive safe when they see the unmistakeable Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor 90s Chevy Caprice Take the crown Vic above, now add 34 horse, and subtract the style and some weight. Real people who know cars respect the caprice. Less weight, more power coming from a Detuned Corvette LT1. Not the LS1. Do not confuse. But they can beat any Mustang, Camaro, and Charger that the high school kids own. More Fun, less price. 250–2800 Ford F Series (9th Gen) I think it is Gen 9. These are “best selling trucks in America (that doesn’t mean they are best trucks.) 5.0 V8 with only 185 horse? Uhhhh… but there are like 500,000, per year, times like 12 years out there. Go find one in a Junkyard. 400$. Buy another at the same price. You just bought a running truck and parts for 800$. Classic Project Cars picture yourself in this But that isn’t 15,000$. Lol Multiply that By 4. But you can get classics cheap. Under 1,000 if you look hard. Look for this. Non car people see junk. Car people see this as a 440 big block powered Mopar Muscle car. Buy it cheap, throughout high school buy parts, and piece the car together. It may take a decade to happen, but in the end, if you use time and effort, your car will look like this Now screw whatever heap of scrap Japanese Honda or Toyota you bought.
