Which motor car brand is the Danfo bus? Where and how are they assembled?

Most Danfo buses in Lagos State are presently adapted from imported secondhand Volkswagen buses. There are several types of buses that are converted to Danfo in Lagos but Volkswagen seems predominant. Other makes include Toyota Hiace, Nissan C20 and Mercedes-Benz. Volkswagen LT Buses Several other makes are in service in Lagos presently but these two are the most predominant. Most of these buses are brought into Nigeria as second hand vehicles. Benches are often fabricates by local artisans. I must however inform you that the state government has sounded a death knell on buses as it plans to ban this mode of transportation by the year end. It plans to replace the iconic buses with the Marco Polo brand. Buses that will replace the Lagos Danfo.

When will the Toyota HiAce be imported to the U.S.?

Probably in 2021 or 2022. The new model of the Toyota Hiace has a 5 star Crash test rating in the ASEAN NCAP. This is the old model, the 5th generation. This is the new model, the 6th generation. The new Toyota Hiace has 3 variants, the Granvia which is a luxury version, a Passenger version with a high roof and a low version, and a cargo version of the van. So maybe, the Toyota Hiace might be able to come back to the United States after about 30 years (left the US market in 1989).

What are some interesting and important facts about the new Sri Lankan president?

A former Lieutenant Colonel in Srilankan army. Involved in major operations against LTTE. Also involved in crack down on JVP uprising from mid to late 80s. Became eligible to stay and work in US through green card and stayed there until 2005. Came back to Srilanka when his elder brother became the president of the country. He was appointed as the Defense Secretary and stayed in the position until his brother got defeated by UNP and MY3 in 2015. Okay, enough introduction. Let’s see his achievements. war crimes and crimes against humanity in a genocide war on Tamils in which he massacred hundreds of thousands of innocents in the killing fields of Northern Srilanka. Defeated LTTE in a war where thousands of surrendered enemy combatants were summarily executed under his direct orders. White flag carrying political heads of LTTE were killed point blank after his direct orders. He directed his troops to use rape as a weapon in the war. He famously quoted addressing his troops before the final onslaught, “when you enter Mullaitivu, rape all women and kill all men. I want to see the sea turning red from their blood”. Under his instructions, thousands of Tamil women, combatants and non combatants were sexually molested and killed. Used internationally banned weapons such as cluster munitions in the war and intentionally targeted no fire zones and hospitals. Used food as a weapon in the war by sending food rations only enough for 50,000 refugees when the actual number was 420,000. Ran a killer squad in the capital Colombo. Using his Navy men, he kidnapped hundreds of innocent Tamils in white Toyota Hiace vans for ransom. Once the ransom is paid by the victim’s family, he butchered the victims and dumbed their bodies in Colombo’s streets. That time Navy commander Wasantha Karannagoda was put in charge as the coordinator for the kidnappings by Gotabaya. Killed human rights activists and journalists. From Raviraj, Prageeth Eknaliyagoda, Nimalrajan to Lasantha Wikramathunga, the list is endless. Forcefully took over profitable businesses in Colombo by intimidation. With his brother, he made millions of dollars from so called development projects. The corrupt deal he made With Ukrainian arms dealer for Mig jets was one of the biggest in Srilankan history and he killed Sunday Leader editor Lasantha Wikramathunga for writing about it on his paper. This is only a small list of his achievements. He has done much more than this. The Srilankans going to witness more of his adventures in coming days.

Why do we see so many Toyota Hiaces in India even when they're not sold here? Wouldn't importing them for a commercial purpose be too expensive?

I think you are confusing some other vehicle for the Toyota Hiace. Aside from some rare relics of the 1980s HiAce, I have not seen any in India. Been here all my life. Perhaps you're referring to the first generation Toyota Previa (Estima)? A bunch of those were imported in the 1990s after our economy was liberalized and imports were eased. Those were seen as luxury products just like the Benz vans that appeared during the late 90s and early 00s. No one buys them anymore. We make great vehicles these days :)

Can we start a petition to get the Toyota HiAce to the USA? The most reliable, useful, value packed van in the world.

You could just import an old one. They’ve been made for a very long time. I think that you’d have to be pretty persuasive to Toyota to compete in the mid-size van sector. The Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Metris, and ProMaster City have that sector pretty much sewn up.

Do you believe the Chinese car brand Foton just did a complete copy of the Toyota Hiace with this van?

Do you believe the Chinese car brand Foton just did a complete copy of the Toyota Hiace with this van? This model Toyota Hiace was out first and then Foton bought their model out. Thanks for the A2A. I have no idea whether Foton explicitly copied — as in, reverse-engineered — the similar Toyota product. You would have to do a much more detailed comparison point-by-point, not just on the basis of general outward appearance or layout, but looking at all the systems to see if they are virtually the same (suspension, steering, engine, electrics, etc.) and if it turns out Foton literally copied every nut and bolt and every drivetrain component on the Toyota, such that their parts would even be interchangeable, then, obviously your answer is “yes.” But the tone of your question implies there is something unusual, or even a bit sinister, about different carmakers coming up with similar-looking models after one maker does it first. Frankly, this is more the rule than the exception, as a review of the last half-century or more of car design would easily show. Let’s start with the beginning of the 1960s. At the time, the only compact van common worldwide was the VW microbus: Comparable American high-top cargo or passenger vans of the 1950s era were based on standard truck chassis, with the engine out front, and rear-wheel drive: As part of the American makers’ attempt to battle back against the rising percentage of import vehicle sales in the US, General Motors introduced in late 1959, as a 1960 model, the Corvair van: Like the VW van, the Corvair had an air-cooled rear engine, swing axle rear suspension, double-doors on the right side for access to the rear seats, and front doors in front of the front wheels, with the driver and front passenger sitting just behind the front sheet metal. it was not an exact copy of the VW van, but clearly the VW design philosophy was taken into consideration by GM. This left the other 2 major US makers in 1960, still putting out older-style, panel trucks instead of “compact” vans of the driver-forward variety. Ford quickly developed a competitor, based on its Falcon running gear, and dubbed it the Econoline, introducing it for the 1961 model year, a year behind GM: Although outwardly resembling the Corvair van closely, the Ford Econoline had a water-cooled, inline-six engine (from the Falcon compact-car line that Ford had introduced the year before) in a “box” situated between the driver’s and front passenger’s seats, powering the rear wheels through a standard drive shaft/rear-differential layout, to enable its version of cab-forward passenger-compartment design. Dodge took a bit longer to introduce its A-100 van, in the 1964 model year: The Dodge van, like the Ford Econoline, had a standard Mopar 6-cylinder-in-line water-cooled engine in a “box” between the front seats, driving the rear wheels. Then, another amazing (?) thing occurred. General Motors, via both Chevy and its GM truck division, abandoned the air-cooled, rear-engine layout of the Corvair Van when it introduced the Chevy Van, in 1964, essentially copying the layout of the Ford Econoline, which had itself been a rushed and therefore incomplete copy of the Corvair Van: The 1964 GMC/Chevy van, like its 1964 Dodge stablemate and 1961 Ford predecessor, was a cab-forward, compact-van design with an inline, water-cooled engine in a “box” between the front seats, driving the rear wheels. Were these vans all ,literally, “copies” of the original? Hardly. They all had engines, chassis, and bodies developed independently by their various makers. But they all came out looking pretty much alike because they were all aimed at the same market segment defined by the same user requirements. This is an example of the industrial-engineering concept of “convergent development” as commonly seen in everything from kitchen appliances to airliners; it is not due to coincidence, or conscious copying, that the first-generation Boeing, Douglas, and Convair jetliners looked almost the same: Boeing 707: Douglas DC-8: Convair 880:

Why aren't vehicles like the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Hiace, and Ford Ranger launched in India but launched in smaller markets like Nepal and Thailand?

Because in India there is a very little craze for lifestyle pickup trucks, though many people showed interest in the D-Max V-Cross. In India people mostly use the pickup trucks and vans for commercial purpose only so they want it to be cheap and give good mileage, they don’t care about luxury or capability. But Thailand? No it is not a small market. Population doesn’t overcome the mentality, I’ve been there and seen so many cars, Lamborghini, Mustang, Hummer and loads of superbikes. The important part is that there were so many modified also pickup trucks looked like small monster trucks, this shows that they have some keenness for their vehicles. Though Ford Ranger is my dream car and I would surely buy if it is priced around as the Endeavour and it would be a dream come true if they bring the bi turbo version!

Why doesn't Toyota bring the HiAce to the US?

I see the new Toyota Hiace 2019 has great reviews ,2019 Toyota HiAce review | CarAdvice, Maybe Toyota USA might start importing the new Hiace now it has a 5 star accident rating.
