รีวิว Q&A benz minibus

Have you ever been ignored by the staff in a store because you didn’t look wealthy enough?

Worse, I’ve been recommended to go to another store that will be “more within my budget”! Long story short, my grandparents were looking for a new minibus/van style car (grandmother is in a wheelchair, so the extra space allows a bit of flexibility) and we had settled on getting a Mercedes benz V class and getting any work needed for wheelchair access sorted. Now, my grandparents, being frugal, wanted one that was three years old with low miles. They could have brought it new, but new cars aren’t a wise investment (usually). We found one in a mercedes dealership, and it already had a wheelchair lift. No work needed! So, being the one who is capable of travelling 300 miles each way without stopping, I set off to buy it. Now, my attire is either a Trenchcoat, waistcoat, shirt and trousers, or cargos and a band T-shirt. I chose the latter because travel in a Trenchcoat is a rough experience. I walk in, no greetings. I look at the outside, check the dealer sticker, and I see a salesman approach. “Window shopping for the future?” He asks. “No actually, I’m looking at buying this today” i reply “Sir, that is a 90 thousand pound, modified van. I don’t see neither the need for you to have a wheelchair van, nor the means of purchase. I suggest if you are looking for a works van, you try (nearby buy Here pay here dealer) and have a look at their transits. I saw one the over day that’s only £1000 that might be more within your budget” Rather than losing my lid (which I feel would have been appropriate) my response was (if I remember correctly, it’s been a year or so) “It’s for my grandparents, who I am here on behalf of, who need the wheelchair lift for my grandmothers access. As for the “suitability” of my finances, We could quite comfortably buy that (at which point I gestured to their SLS AMG, which didn’t even have a dealer sticker listing price) but we shall take our business elsewhere” At which point I walked out. We eventually did get the van we wanted, at a different dealer. Needless to say my grandmother was NOT happy at the way I was treated.

What's the coolest feature you've seen in a car? Preferably something that isn't very common, such as the rain channels in the Mercedes S-class that channel rain from the windshield away from the side windows, & nothing related to self-driving cars.

The sliding door rail of the Hyundai H1 minibus. A sliding door needs at least three support points. In modern minibus designs, two are found at the top and bottom of the sliding door, and the third on a rail to the rear of the door. Here’s the classic Toyota Hi-Ace, with the rear sliding door track visible as a black line above the rear wheel. Photo: ,Siya In the Toyota Quantum, it’s been made less conspicuous by not making it black: Photo: ,488oes Ads | Gumtree Classifieds South Africa Not even Mercedes-Benz gets away without one, although of course their’s is shiny: Photo: ,Trucks for sale in South Africa But in the Hyundai H1 minibus, there’s no such rail! Look: there’s a petrol cap where the rail is supposed to be. The one thing that screams “look at me, I’m a minibus!” is completely absent, replace by a cool, curvy panel crease. Photo: ,New, Demo and Used Cars | Auto Mart How did they do it? Only two support points on a sliding door? No, not at all. There is third support, with a rail. It’s just ingeniously hidden under the bottom edge of the rear windows. You have be really close to notice it. I think this is an example of some very good design, which makes it a cool feature.

What are the differences in classes of Mercedes Benz cars?

A class is for hatchbacks.CLA is the sedan/coupe of the A hatch. GLA is the compact SUV. B class is small the people carrier or MPV C class is the compact executive saloon. GLC is the SUV. GLC Coupe is the Coupe SUV. E class is executive saloon. GLE is SUV of E. GLE Coupe is coupe SUV. CLS is 4 seater coupe of E. Not to be confused with E Coupe. S is luxury saloon. GLS is SUV of S. G Wagon is offroad car. V class is people mover/miniBus. SL is roadster. SLC is compact roadster GT is 2 seater sportscar. I could have missed out a couple.

Is a Dodge Sprinter a Mercedes?

The Mercedes-Benz ,Sprinter, is a light commercial vehicle (van) built by Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany as a van, chassis cab, minibus, and pickup truck. In the past the ,Sprinter, has been sold under the Mercedes-Benz, ,Dodge,, Freightliner, and Volkswagen nameplates.

What is the life span of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus?

This is an impossible question to answer. Like any vehicle it really depends upon how hard a life it has and how well maintained it is. The Sprinter like it’s Volkswagen Crafter sibling is prone to rust, this is the leading cause of death for these vehicles. The Island of Malta has an extensive fleet of red minibuses that are used for transporting tourists around the island. The Mercedes Sprinter is a popular choice for a good reason. However you can still see a handful of Ford Transits built over 50 years ago. I don’t doubt that they will have well over 1 million km on them, but they endure because they are extensively maintained. Any vehicle can last if the time and money is put into it.

Who said in the US Mercedes Benz is a luxury car in Europe they are Taxi Cabs?

As a matter of fact, the Mercedes S-Class is the best selling luxury car in the world. This does not keep away some people to operate this car as a taxicab. However, this has much to do with the standard of taxicabs in a certain city and the cost of a taxi ride. A taxi ride is pretty expensive in Germany, and it is far cheaper in other cities like Istanbul. The higher fares in Germany lead to both a higher salary of the drivers and a higher technical standard of the cars. A standard German taxi is either a minivan (VW Touran, Mercedes B class) or a Mercedes E- or C-Class sedan or station wagon. There are other countries where taxicabs are all pretty much the same or where only certain cars are licensed to be used as a taxicab (just think of London or New York). In Germany the operators can more or less choose se the car they want to use as a taxicab. So some choose to use really small cars like the Nissan Leaf, others drive around in a minibus or a luxury sedan. Actually, the fare is always the same, so operating a luxury taxi does not mean a higher payment per ride. I think, those who run a Mercedes S-Class taxicab, do it to attract clients and because they are willing to spend more money on their working environment. Actually, S-Class taxicabs are pretty rare in Germany, maybe one in hundred if you look at Munich.

Which BMWs and Mercedes models were extremely reliable?

Here is a real time analysis of the cost to maintain any cars as per all manufacturer. Honda is #1…. but Mercedes is #1 for German cars. This is the bible on the dependability of every manufacturer over 5 or 10 years depending in your extended warranty service contract . Companies that issue those extended warranty service ae the ones paying the bills. They have the data on the results per car manufacturer. I ,perform Quality Control ( QC ) and audit on cars being serviced with defects, All manufacturers with a new model are loaded with issues. some are small and some are major as Mercedes had in 2004 -2008 with the New 350- 3,5 liters V6. Some problems are so small but the outome may be removing and dismantling the engine to repair the bad plastic guide for the timing chain or malfunctioning camshaft adjustment solenoid on the Mercedes V6-350. Toyota, for example, has a high average cost of repair but quite a good index rating - which means that the car fails infrequently but when it does you will be in for a larger than average bill. Does your car indicate your social hierarchy in your country?

Here in Nigeria I would say not absolutely but to a very great extent. The super super rich drive cars like Bentley continental, mini coopers, Shelbies and Rolls Royce but to mention a few . Driving these kind of cars means your soo rich that the cost of maintenance to you is like buying a peak milk sachet especially when you take into consideration the fact that many of the roads aren't In good shape. I once saw an Audi spider and a Ford mustang and I was shocked because you don't see them everyday. I've only seen a Chevy camaro once and as it rolled up to a halt people couldn't help but stare with a look that said *from whence comest thee, ye four wheeled damsel*. Then for the wealthy but not soo super rich, mostly managers in big companies, the Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. Toyota is quite common among Nigerians mostly due to availability of the spare parts. Then for the middle class you have low budget SUV's and smaller models of Honda, Toyota mostly Camry and corolla and also Nissan. Some prefer minibuses like the Toyota Sienna. So if you pull up at an occasion with a Range Rover or BMW you are profiled as being rich even of its not the latest model. If you commute using a bike like I do most of the time , the primordial inclination of many persons is that you are poor. It’s laughable.

If Mercedes is expensive, then why do I see Mercedes buses and trucks all over third world countries like in Asia and South America?

Mercedes-Benz Bus Train Provides Cheap Public Transportation in Bolivia; leading market position in Brazil with a market share of 52.5 % Daimler Buses maintained its leading market position in the EU30 region with a market share of 28.4 %. Saudi Arabia, ordered more than 600 Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses — the biggest single order for Mercedes-Benz Citaro city buses in the history of Daimler Buses. Mercedes‑Benz buses and coaches are among the most recognized automotive brands worldwide and offer practical and advanced solutions to meet future challenges - always ensuring that its clients remain one step ahead of the competition. The company, which built the first-ever bus back in 1895, offers economically-efficient, environmentally-friendly and innovative vehicles, tailored to the dynamic requirements of its highly discerning clients. Daimler unveiled its ,electric school bus,, further emphasizing its commitment to electric public transportation. The "ultra quiet" bus is powered by modular, lithium-ion battery packs that fuel the electric wheel hub motors at the rear axle. The company also touts its energy-efficient climate control system as a range booster. But, it will have its work cut out to beat EV manufacturer ,Proterra, -- which recently set the record for longest distance traveled by an electric bus on a single charge (a whopping 1,101.2 miles). It's also facing competition from ,Navya,, the French firm behind the Las Vegas ,driverless shuttle service, that just started back up (albeit with a ,hiccup,). Not to mention household names like ,Volvo, and ,Toyota,. “As the oldest bus maker in the world and market leader in the bus segment, Mercedes-Benz buses will enable people in India to ‘Travel with the Star’. The Mercedes-Benz O 500 R / RF is a versatile chassis and has been proven across markets the world over. Mercedes-Benz Tourismo: Mercedes Benz Tourismo – top-selling touring coach wins International Bus & Coach Competition (IBC) 2018 The demanding test procedure on public roads and closed testing grounds includes fuel consumption drives with laden buses over a defined route, measurements of performance and braking as well as an inspection of ease of maintenance by neutral workshop experts. The comparative test takes place annually in changing categories. Four years ago, the Mercedes-Benz Citaro was a convincing winner of the IBC test with urban buses. Daimler Buses sold 28,700 buses and bus chassis worldwide in financial year 2017 (2016: 26,200). The significant increase was due in particular to the gradual recovery of the economy in Brazil. The division thus maintained its clear market leadership in its most important traditional core markets (EU30, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico). Varied business development in the core regions In the EU30 region, the Daimler Buses brands Mercedes-Benz and Setra offer a full range of city buses, intercity buses and touring coaches, as well as bus chassis. Due to the continued high demand for our complete buses, unit sales in this region amounted to 8,700, remaining roughly at the high level of the prior year (2016: 8,800 units). Daimler Buses maintained its leading market position in the EU30 region with a market share of 28.4 % (2016: 29.6 %). At 3,100 units, sales in Germany were at the same level as in the previous year. Sales of 400 units in Turkey were significantly lower than in the prior year (2016: 600) due to the country’s economic situation, which remains difficult. The market situation in Latin America (excluding Mexico) improved considerably on account of the gradually recovering market in Brazil. The bus market volume in Brazil grew by 10 % in the year under review after having bottomed out in 2016. Sales of Mercedes-Benz bus chassis in Brazil rose by 46 % to 7,200 units. We were able to maintain our leading market position in Brazil with a market share of 52.5 % (2016: 58.4 %). In India, we continued along our growth path and increased our sales to 900 units (2016: 500). At 3,400 units, sales in Mexico were significantly lower than in the previous year (2016: 3,800). The benchmark: the new Mercedes-Benz Citaro hybrid In the year under review, Daimler Buses continued its model offensive with the Mercedes-Benz Citaro hybrid and other models. Hybrid drive is available for many model variants of the best-selling Citaro city bus, including the natural-gas-powered Citaro NGT. Hybrid drive, together with the new electro-hydraulic steering system, further reduces the fuel consumption of the conventional Citaro, which is already highly efficient, depending on the vehicle’s application and specifications. The further reduced fuel consumption quickly pays off for transport companies, and society and the environment benefit from the decrease in emissions. On the total bus market in Germany Mercedes and Kässbohrer had in 1993 a combined market share of 57%. The total bus market is composed of three segments: city buses, intercity buses and touring coaches, each representing a relevant market. However, it must also be considered that the boundaries between these segments are fluid and that it is relatively easy to switch production from on bus type to another. The competitive assessment cannot therefore be based on three separate segments, but rather has to consider competitive conditions on the total market for buses. The combined 1993 market shares of Mercedes and Kässbohrer in Germany were in 1993 44% for city buses, 74% for intercity buses, and 54% for touring coaches. - Public procurement opens German market Despite the high market share in the total bus market and in the individual segments, in the view of the Commission the freedom of behaviour of Mercedes on the German market will be adequately constrained by competition. MAN and Neoplan are two German bus manufacturers which due to their specific advantages will also in the future act as effective competitors and whose market share will probably increase after the merger due to the expected loss of market share of the new combined entity Mercedes/Kässbohrer. However, in the present case the potential competition of European manufacturers outside Germany is of decisive importance. Potential competition will lead to the progressive opening of the German market. Unlike the situation in the past, non-German suppliers now possess buses which meet the requirements of the German market. In view of the existing competitive pressure on private tourist bus travels and cost pressure in intercity travel, it is to be expected that German bus operators will increasingly use European competitors as a means of obtaining leverage on the German market - a view which was explicitly stressed by the Associations of Private and Public Bus Operators. The progressive opening of the German market will also be favoured by the EU directives on public procurement, which makes EU wide tenders obligatory for the main part of the city and intercity bus markets. In this context the fact need to be stressed taht those two segments together represent 70% of the German market. In order to remove doubts about the availability of engines for non- integrated bus producers, Mercedes has committed itself towards the Commission to supply engines for buses to be sold within the EEA, produced by bus manufacturers without their own engine production and who are not linked to another engine supplier. Furthermore, through a letter to be sent to the sales representatives and the contracted garages, Mercedes has committed itself to permit the sales representatives and contracted garages of the Kässbohrer network to undertake sales and service work for non-German manufacturers including their subsidiaries. At what point did the government turn seatbelts and airbags from their original purposes as options when the manufacturers created them to law?

At what point did the government turn seatbelts and airbags from their original purposes as options when the manufacturers created them to law? “In 1966, Congress passed the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Act, which required automakers to put seat belts, but not air bags, in every car they built. Unfortunately, the law did not require people to use their seat belts, and only about 25 percent did. Air bags seemed like the perfect solution to this problem: They could protect drivers and passengers in car crashes whether they chose to buckle up or not.” “On September 1, 1998, the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 finally goes into effect. The law required that all cars and light trucks sold in the United States have air bags on both sides of the front seat.” ,Federal legislation makes airbags mandatory The timeline for laws requiring seat belt USE varies since seatbelt requirements are established on a state by state basis. The Center for Auto Safety has a full timeline.
