Which anime characters do you think have a bad rep unnecessarily?
Emilia (Re:Zero) It amazes me how ,childish ,and attached anime fans can get, to the point where the fanbase becomes toxic and detached from reality. In order to fit their own biases. Why is Emila a character with an unnecessary amount of bad rep? ,Because anime fans are SALTY. You see - this girl called ,Rem ,is unsurprisingly REJECTED by Subaru Natsuki, the main character of Re:Zero. Subaru Natsuki. The reason why he rejects her is obvious to anyone: ,Emilia is the ONE for Subaru. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. Because this is how the story is set up from the very first episode of Re:Zero. Subaru’s motivations as the “male” protagonists are ,driven ,by Emilia, originally. She’s the first person he comes into contact with. And of course - it’s who he falls for. And even though their “relationship” hasn’t blossomed into what we’re expecting to see, especially after the last episode, it’s clear they’ve bonded from the beginning. Emilia is a just a little childish when it comes to romance is all. And Subaru isn’t without his flaws either. The thing about Emilia is she’s a genuine person who’s so kind and gentle it’s almost to a fault. But more importantly: her intentions were always ,PURE ,from the beginning of the anime. She never tries to manipulate, discriminate, deceive or ,murder ,Subaru because that’s not her character. She’s not disingenuous and at the same time she’s not a “mug” either. They have their “fallout” later on, but that happens with friendships and relationships in the first place. It’s ,relatable. On the other hand - Rem, who gets a disproportionate amount of “rep” in the anime community… ,is the same “sweet” girl who MURDERS Subaru. Not once, but ,twice,. And the 2nd time she does it? ,She gets a sadistic kick out of it ,and shows ,no ,mercy to Subaru. Even in the helpless state that he’s in at the time. This is all in the name of Rem’s self righteous, misguided motivations. Even after this incident - Subaru ,still ,goes of his way to please Rem (he’s able to revive after being killed). He does everything he can to kiss Rem’s ass and make sure she “doesn’t want to kill him” ,despite Rem’s older sister and Roswaal telling Rem to NOT do anything drastic. She’s irrational and childish, emotionally. Everything is black and white to her. It gets to a point where Subaru puts his life on the line for some kids that go missing in the forest, and Rem is suggested to tag along by her older sister. It’s from this point that Rem, the girl with a ,toxic ,fanbase and a disproportionate amount of praise in the anime community, starts to build a “bond” with Subaru. NOT because Rem gave a fuck, but because ,Subaru ,is on his best behavior because of how unstable and triggered Rem can be. That’s why Rem falls for Subaru in the first place: ,because Subaru treats everyone equally, and she gets love sick ,since no one’s treated her like that before. Eventually it starts to look like this. And Rem is “used and abused” for the sake of moving the plot forward, and of course - ,re-introducing Emilia ,a while after Emilia and Subaru fall out with each other. Rem ,literally ,disappears from this point. This is where Subaru rejects her, romantically. That’s the reason why Emilia is ,hated so much, ,even though that was expected from the beginning (especially considering how Rem treated Subaru early on). Emilia ,isn’t the PERFECT protagonist. But then again - who is? The thing about Re:Zero is characters have realistic flaws… and that balances out their strengths and the good things about them. This is evident with Rem, Emilia, especially Subaru and a few others. But the fact that ,Emilia gets so much hate and a bad rep by ,MOSTLY ,toxic anime fans, just because Rem is treated how a side character is ,expected ,to be treated… It baffles me. It might not be ideal, but is the toxic attitude really necessary? Rem isn’t all bad, but the facts are the facts. Emilia is objectively ,not as bad as the reputation would have you believe. But a lot of fans are too caught up in their emotions and ,ideals ,to see it (hence why they down play it).
Why does Subaru dislike Julius in Re:Zero (before episode 21)?
Let me refresh your memory. During this scene Emilia is stopped by Julius ,just ,before she goes to the castle where the “Queen” will be decided. Subaru’s with her until this point, and after Julius kisses Emilia’s hand ,Subaru’s pissed off. He see’s Julius as a romantic rival for Emilia (jealousy more than logic). That’s where Subaru’s “dislike” starts off. But it’s NOT the biggest reason for why Subaru hates his guts. That part comes not too long after when this happens…. Subaru STUPIDLY challenges Julius to a match. I get why he did it because Julius is a smug bastard and being who Subaru is, he couldn’t stand it. At first I thought it was a ballsy move and even though it seemed daft, I respected it. I hoped he had some trick up his sleeve as if I was watching a Shounen. But nope. ,Julius beats the living SHIT out of Subaru. He’s HUMILIATED in front of everyone who cares about him. The only way I can describe the beating Subaru got… It’s like watching a Lion fight a Reindeer. It’s so savage Julius literally ,beats the SELF ESTEEM ,out of Subaru, because he has none left when it’s all over. This ,is the main reason Subaru hates his guts before episode 21, even though ,technically ,he asked for it without knowing what the F he was getting himself into. I’d easily rate this scene (episode 12–13+ I think) as one of the most painful. It’s hard to watch Subaru get beaten to death like that. Guy was more helpless than a new born baby. Emilia turning his back on him only adds fuel to the fire of Julius, and ,crushes ,his self esteem even more.

Sayaka Miki X Kyoko Sakura (Madoka Magica) I really thought this ship had a lot of potential but they focused a bit too much on the Homura and Madoka relationship (Even though I don’t personally like it. It feels too forced). And even though Madoka Magica has a lot Yuri undertones, none of it is canon. Rem X Natsuki Subaru (Re: Zero) Man, the writers messed up big time here. And the thing is that I don’t ,mind ,Emilia. It’s just that she’s boring. She barely adds anything to the overall plot. I actually think she’s cute. But it’s just that Rem is so much more likable and memorable because she had more screen-time with Subaru than her. Also, Emilia constantly pushed Subaru away so what’s the point of making them endgame? Eren Yaeger X Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan) So Mikasa decided to pull a Rem and Eren used a UNO-reverse card and pulled a Subaru. Eren needs to get his priorities straight. You have a strong, intelligent, beautiful, protective girl all over you and you constantly push her off. He constantly treats her like a sibling instead of a friend (trust me. The sh*t he puts on her in season 1 was basically what any sibling would do). Shouya Ishida X Shouko Nishimiya (A Silent Voice) I know I ,shouldn’t ,ship them but I do anyway. Shouko’s little sister kept on hinting it and other people did too in both the anime and manga but they didn't become canon in either adaptation. I know A Silent Voice is not a romance but my inner-fangirl wish it was. Makoto Tachibana X Haruka Nanase (Free!) All fangirling aside, this ship actually has a lot of chemistry and moments. If the show was willing to go the extra mile, they could become canon. I don’t care that they’re both hot boys, but they genuinely feel like they would make a cute and happy couple. Ryuko Matoi X Mako Mankanshoku (Kill La Kill) Whether they’re canon or not is confusing. Mako asks Ryuko on a date at the end of the series then kisses her. I don’t know whether this was done for comic relief or not but I ship it either way. They both clearly care for each other a lot, much more than most females do for each other in anime. P.S. In Re:Zero there is a very high possibility that Flugel is Subaru from the future ….. in arc 6 , the author was literally showing us (readers) that there is some connection between Flugel and Subaru Now, why people think that is Simple , let me explain it to you ………. There are way too similarity between Flugel and Subaru (the list keeps on going ) Shaula ( Flugel’s apprentice 400 years ago ) claims that Subaru is her master Flugel …..now the author writes it off as Shaula not being able to distinqush people as she says that both Flugel and Subaru has the same smell (presumably the witch’s miasma) …… Satella loves Subaru but we don’t know her reasons for loving Subaru ,( not to mention even Subaru loves Satella , because whenever he sees her , the narration tells us that he want’s to kiss her , have sex with her and all that shit BUT THE QUESTION HERE IS WHY … Flugel was around when Satella ( actually the Witch of Envy ) was rampaging and he was even one of the people that sealed Satella in the Watch Tower Whenever Subaru dies his consciousness travels in the Shadow Realm where Satella is and then Subaru gains some unknown memories and both Subaru and Satella convey there love for each other and Subaru even wants to do all sorts of Erotic and Lewd stuff with Satella (Basically Fuck Satella ) and Satella even complies with it, , but since Subaru does not have a body he stays a virgin...... *If u don’t wanna read the WN skip till the next 2 picture apear…. Even in the Witch’s Tea Party ( Season 2 ) all the witches were acting as if they know Subaru or atleast familiar with (some of this happened in the Web novel of Re:Zero ) -when Subaru attended the First trial in the sanctuary , he saw his past , met his parents and Echidna was also there in the School Uniform but she doesn’t even ask where Subaru is actually from ( i mean there are school and stuff , buldings , no magic , TV ,Manga’s ) -Typon easily calls Subaru ‘Baru’ -Dafne literally tells that Subaru is a sage candidate -Sekmet tells Dafne not to tell that to Subaru And then there is again Satella Subaru even felt intense love for Satella in the Witch's Tea Party but he was conscious of it and was having an inner conflict to reject these unknown feelings for Satella where he came to the conclusion that Satella was controlling his feelings with her power and then he asked if she was that desperate for him to love her where u all know what happens ..... THE FOLLOWING LINES ARE DIRECTLY TAKEN FROM THE OFFICIAL WEB NOVEL OF RE:ZERO : [Subaru: If you’re… the one giving me the power to rewind…… why… are you……] He didn’t know why Satella was doing this. Or why his body, facing Satella at a distance close enough to touch, despite him time and time and again screaming commands from the depths of his consciousness, was refusing to obey him. ――Was he supposed to feel so inexplicably “Relieved” in front of her? If he kept standing there, his breaths would reach her, his fingertips would reach her. If he didn’t get away from her now while he could still keep his instincts in check, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself. And if that happens, Subaru would be swept away by “Love”―― [Subaru: Stop……] [Satella: I love you] [Subaru: Please, stop……] [Satella: I’ve always, will always, love only you] [Subaru: I told you to stop――!!] Shaking his head and swinging his arm, Subaru wrested his attention away from her hot, entangling gaze. Yes there is harem in Re:Zero, , now many people may disagree with this and i completely get that but the thing about Tappei (author of Re:zero) is , he is going to show you what u want but in a realistic way ( this way of showing things is called deconstruction ) For eg: look at Subaru he is an isekai main protagonist who is supposed to save the world ,become the hero and he does it but in a realistic way …… Similiarly , the author is also gonna show us harem but in a more realistic way ( i.e deconstruction ) Tappei could have just made Subaru reject Rem and kept it there , but he did not ; he went on to make Subaru confess his love for Rem before and after the whale battle and even showed us that Rem doesn’t mind being Subaru’s second wife ……… These events Happened before the battle with the White Whale **These lines are Straight from the Web Novel Of Re:Zero ….. So as you all can see Re:Zero does have harem and there are more girls that love Subaru ( basically unofficial lovers ) like Shaula , Louis , Echidna Shaula said she loves Subaru , Louis licked his face and came in front of him when he was going to tbe cut in half taking the damage , and even after physical and verbal abuse from Subaru , Louis still follows him around and the Author himself stated that Echidna has some level of Genuine affection for Subaru (**fuck u Roswaal ) SUBARU’S CONFIRMED HAREM : THANK YOU FOR READING ALL THIS ……
Why does the Witch of Envy love Subaru in Re:Zero?
This is just personal opinion and speculation, and could potentially be a spoiler for a possible endgame scenario. Satella, simply put, is an Emilia from another timeline - after acquiring and converting either part of, or by possession of the actual Witch of Envy, obtained the ability to move back to an earlier point in the timeline to correct some perceived mistake, correct and perhaps atone for perceived ‘sins’ she committed while under the possession of the actual Witch of Envy, but was failing due to paradoxical and other circumstances - until she initiated the process of summoning people from different worlds. Failing a few times, the latest being Aldebaran, until she got Subaru, although there seems to be the insistence that he lived his life first as that Flugel preparing the small changes that were to contribute to the entire endeavor of ‘changing a tragic fate’ to succeed, somehow lost memories of that time either by incident or voluntarily, and re:spawned as he initially was at the start of episode 1. From then on, Subaru has done quite well at changing Emilia’s fate, her outlook, and self-confidence partly because of his efforts and partly as hher response to his affection and encouragement, changed for the better. The (anime-omitted) speech she gives to Subaru in Echidna’s tea party with all the other Witches present highlights what he has done for her, some parts of which he would actually do for her later on. For context: Satella: ,I, love you., ――,Because you gave me light. It was you who took me by the hand, and showed me the world outside. (s1) In the nights when I was lonely and afraid, you held my hand.(s2 e14) And when I was all alone, you kissed me on the lips and told me that I wasn’t.(s2 e15) You’ve given me so, so much. ……That’s why, I love you. Because you… you gave me everything. There’s also the possibility that she IS Satella, the Witch of Envy herself, but the facts of her existence and the ‘tragedies and atrocities’ she inflicted upon the world and its people were fabrications/’fake news’, forced upon the people of the world by the likes of some other opposing witch, the most likely of which is Pandora, Witch of Vainglory. The whole mess of Emilia’s past in the Elior Forest, and the events that actually transpired there, involving Pandora, Fortuna(Emilia’s aunt and caretaker at the time), and Betelguese (ally driven insane by deceptive manipulation on Pandora’s part) was probably only a taste of what she was capable of doing with her Authority. Even Regulus Corneas, which was with Pandora at the time in some fickle, uneasy alliance, was no match for Pandora’s Authority, even turning him into laughable laughingstock while undoing all the damage he wrought in the area. All in all, in a world where everyone else looked upon her silver-haired half-elf countenance with nothing but prejudice, Subaru being (thankfully) unaffected by such prejudicial tendencies have allowed her to overcome the difficulties of being such a suppressed existence and the terrible fate that awaited her as a result, and naturally as a result the affection is reciprocated in kind.
