รีวิว Q&A toyota ssi

I'm a 25-year-old autistic man living on my income benefit. I get $800 ever month on my incomes, but that's not enough to live on. What should I do?

Get a roommate or live with your parents. Get food stamps and utility assistance. Use public transportation or buy a used Toyota or Honda. Buy the book “How to Survive Without a Salary” by Charles Long. Even better, order it from the library. Use the library for borrowing music, films, and books. Many major cable Internet providers have deals for people on SSI.

How can you survive on $730 SSI (disability payments), especially when you can’t work?

I don't think you're supposed to. The government doesn't want people living off of it; they want people contributing to it, through working and paying taxes. The SSI is there more as a safety net to help support you, especially if you're working, but in a job that doesn't pay well (many employers don't want to hire people with disabilities, even though with the right accommodations and mental adjustments by employers, people with disabilities can be productive employees, you know). If you really can't work, then you probably should, like many do on SSI, find a roommate to pool your money together, or a family member willing to let you live with them (maybe for reduced rent and expenses). I do know at least a number of people on SSI who supplement their payments (illegally) by doing a variety of jobs “under the table”. But truth be told, I'm not a big fan of SSI. I did apply and got it while I was in college (but I only intended it for my college years — not as a permanent way of life). I found the whole SSI experience to be degrading and soul-sucking, starting with their initial denial of my application on the basis that I couldn't possibly be Deaf, because I spoke too well orally. And then there was the time I filed paperwork showing I had earned money during a summer job that was over their allowable limit, only to find that apparently, they lost the paperwork, causing the SSI administration to hound me for back payments for the next 15–20 years of my life until they caught up with me and were able to garnish my paychecks. All in all, I view SSI as government-sponsored “peddling”, and I'd call for its abolishment if I was assured Deaf people would have full access to language, education and employment, but unfortunately, they don't. *full disclosure: that initial denial of SSI resulted in a retroactive payment that was nearly sufficient for me to buy my first car, a new 1986 Toyota Celica*

What is it like to be a senior citizen in the US living on just social security?

Here is the perspective of an immigrant who came into the US in the late 60s and worked various low-end jobs because she was not highly-educated to support her family: When she was able to collect her social security, she was given a little over $600/month, plus an additional $100 from SSI. She had to live in a section 8 independent living facility through Catholic Charities (which took her 3 years to get after applying), which she paid $175/month for rent. Her utilities (phone & electricity) were less than $100/month because she kept a basic landline with no extras and she kept her lights off for most of the day plus she never used the AC unit (only the ceiling fan). She had cable that was paid for by one of her children and a cell phone paid by another. Thanks to Medicare and Medicaid, most of her medicines were covered. Her food expenses were around $200/month because she bought healthy foods (fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, etc.) and knew how to cook. She lived a simple life. She had a car (an old used Toyota Corolla), but after suffering a mini-stroke and lapses in memory she had to sell it. When she did have it, she paid a little over $100/month for insurance. Had it not been for that, she would have had to either live with one of her children or live on the street.

Why are you initially denied Social Security disability when your obviously disabled?

The government doesn’t want to spend money it doesn’t have to. I get that. But. Back in the ‘80s, I applied for SSI while I was in college. Just for the spending money — I had no plans to make a living off of SSI. So I applied. Provided my documentation, including my audiogram, which proved I was certainly, undoubtedly truly, most sincerely Deaf. Some time later, I got the verdict — I was denied. Apparently the initial processor rejected my claim because of my speech skills — if I could speak orally that clearly, I couldn’t possibly be Deaf, could I? So, I filed an appeal. Went to the hearing and gave a speech about how I’d been born Deaf and have been Deaf my whole life. I could speak orally because the System convinced my parents, especially my mother that I had to and could learn to speak orally. So from the age of 2, my whole childhood was basically one continuous speech lesson. Due to some combination of luck, intelligence and hearing aids (but probably mostly luck), I did develop good speech (as well as academic skills — the two don’t necessarily go together). So now I can speak orally so well that I could just about pass for a hearing person, and now I’m being told that I spoke TOO well? There is nothing in the SSI criteria about speech quality, mind you! But in essence, I was being penalized for being a success of the Oralist system. The judge/arbitrator agreed with me, and I did get SSI, including retroactive payments back to my initial application. This retroactive payment, plus my bar mitzvah money, allowed me to buy my first car, a 1986 Toyota Celica, like this one: As soon as I graduated from college, I stopped SSI. It was a degrading process that I never enjoyed. I did love that car, though!

Can you live on 900 dollars a month in Los Angeles?

You can make $900 a month work in LA, but you’d be hanging by a thread. $900 is roughly the amount one gets from SSI (Supplemental Security Income) in California, so I’ll use my grandfather as my example for this answer as he’s an SSI recipient. He’s able to make $900 a month work because: He bought his apartment in 1985, back when he was still working. The apartment today is worth at least five times what he paid for. Bonus points for the fact that the building is a co-op, and — unusually for LA — his HOA dues pay for all the utilities, ,including, electricity. His car is from 1990, and it has close to 300,000 miles on it. But it’s a Toyota, and Toyotas from that era can basically run forever with proper maintenance. He’s very low-maintenance and unfussy, something he has in common with many retirees in their 80s and 90s. SSI only gives him the absolute basics needed to live in LA. It pays for his HOA dues, the apartment’s phone and Internet service, cable TV, his mobile phone and his car insurance, plus the occasional tank of gas. But beyond that, he has to rely on other assistance. He regularly goes to the food bank to get fresh food for free, and he also receives SNAP assistance to buy groceries. He also has a nest egg in the Philippines, so his assets there fund his lifestyle here. But, as he regularly bemoans, he’s spending dollars made from pesos, so his money doesn’t go very far in the U.S. He’s pondered many a time about giving up SSI and permanently returning to the Philippines, but then he loses out on his healthcare benefits here, so that’s not happening just yet. I also pitch in to some extent, considering that I live with him and I make much more than what he gets out of SSI. I help pay for groceries, I maintain the family FasTrak account so we can use the ExpressLanes, I pay the various subscriptions that he mooches off of me for (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and, soon, HBO Max) and I pay for many of our after-church Sunday lunches. Before I bought my car, I also kept his car’s tank filled. If you’re like my grandfather, where he was fortunate enough to buy an apartment near downtown LA and three blocks away from a Metro station in 1985, you can make a monthly SSI payment work for you, but you’d be living a pauper’s life. Imagine then if you were forced to rent in a place with terrible public transit. You would never make $900 a month in LA work, and at this point I wouldn’t even try.

Will you buy an electric car if Joe Biden installs 500,000 charging stations?

I am 70 years old and on SSI . I will drive my Toyota Matrix until I die and then they can use it as my coffin. If I was 50 years old and still working then YES I would buy an electric car. I almost did in 2008 when I bought the Matrix.

What is the biggest blunder made by an Indian Prime minister ever?

The biggest blunders were those that were not visible at that time. A blunder which is visible at the onset can be course corrected but blunders which happens over a period of time happens silently, day in and day out. Often, the leader does not realize. The courtiers, close circle, advisers, intelligentsia, media- everyone is in group think mode or does not tells the king that he is naked. Anyone who has a divergent viewpoint is an anti national, anti poor, anti X, anti Y or anti Z. In 1950s, India decided to be a mixed economy where Public Sector Units were established to be at “commanding heights of the economy”. There was nothing wrong in it considering it was necessary thing to industrialize the country and there was a complete consensus for the same within the country. However, plan after plan, we missed the desired growth rates and were unable to take people out of poverty. Instead of unleashing market forces to raise demands and investment in the economy, we became more inward looking economy. The last death knell on Indian economy happened during the reigns of this Prime Minister: INDIRA GANDHI We were already an inward looking economy and Indira Gandhi made sure that we became a closed economy. Profit became a dirty word, businessmen became blood sucking monster, Indians became tax evader, Babus became bribe seeker and anyone who travels abroad became a smuggler. Indira Gandhi has to take the responsibility of the downfall of the structure of Indian economy. Let me explain it with a few points: Small Scale Industry (SSI): When other nations who got independence at the same time as India were going for massive industrialization, we penalized industries by having a differential duty structure for SSIs and bigger units. We imposed heavy excise duties and taxes on big units. This led to a perverse incentive for people to go for smaller units only. Business viability was not seen in terms of capacity or profitability, but in terms of how not to become big? End result: We were never able to create a desi Samsung, Daewoo, Hyundai or LG. Licensing: It might sound stupid now but there was a time when we have to take a license to produce something or even for increasing production. The rationale for licensing was: You might grow up to become a monopoly. Hence, as a government, it is our responsibility to ensure that you remain dwarf. ,Can there be any logic more f***ed up than this? Yes, there were many. Continue reading….. Nationalization: Like a fake Baba, who has one cure for all diseases, the government also had one cure: ,Nationalization, Nationalization, Nationalization If a private insurer screws up: nationalize insurance. If a private bank screw up: nationalize private banks. Violation of labor laws in Coal mines: Nationalize mines Why only coal mines: OK, get them all nationalized Oil Sector: nationalized Airlines- Nationalized, Anything else left: Nationalized The reasoning was weird if not outright non sense., The answer which no one ever said was but assumed was ,private capital is dirty, they cheat customers, they screw labor class. Hence, we will Nationalize. Can Nationalization Solve our problems?: An equally WEIRD answer awaited you in those days: ,Who you are to challenge government’s judgement? Are you on payrolls of some industrialist? World Bank Stooge? IMF stooge? CIA Agent? 4. Now watch this video first: What this video shows: Two Super stars living in Pali Hills, belonging to an industry which used to run on mafia money coaxing people for an armed struggle against capitalism. An industry which can be the blackest form of capitalism is asking people to revolt against Capitalism. ,*Let this sink in* Now, you must realize why this man was called Angry Young Man One of the highest paid actor, always in good books of the ruling party, was alleged to be involved in Bofors and in Panama now, was always angry against blood sucking Capitalist system. ,*Let this again sink in* That was a period of massive hypnotic trance- Public, Government, media, films, art and culture- all pointing fingers towards the capitalist- someone who least interested in exploiting labor class and was running from pillar to post in getting his files cleared in Delhi. 5. Tax structure: We created such a dirty tax structure where people instead of voluntarily paying taxes to the government devised new methods to evade taxes. Our highest tax rate in 1970s was 97%. The state of Indirect taxes was even worse. No doubt, people started under reporting production, selling off-market and keeping black money in pillows. Last but not the least, we created a special profession for suggesting ways to evade taxes: ,Chartered Accountants., Instead of suggesting people on managing finance, they used to guide on making fake bills, obtaining fake receipts of donations, producing fake payrolls etc. When Koreans were learning Kaizen, Japanese were selling Toyota in America, our Indian Businessmen were preparing themselves for the next tax scrutiny!!! 6. Public Sector Units (PSUs): Since, public sector is the panacea for all ills for us, why not have public sector for every thing. We have a public sector for everything: bread, condoms, oil, coal, power, electronics, juices, shoes, ship making, shipping, airlines, mutual funds, banks, telecom, pharmaceuticals, warehousing, insurance, textile, steel, chemical, salt, vegetable oils, watching, printing , housing - you name it , we have it. The only PSU which we didn’t had was a “PSU for managing other PSUs”. OK, we had planning commission for that. These PSUs existed in different nomenclatures, shapes and sizes- departments, corporations, public limited, holding, commission etc. 7. Government Budget: Now if any government do the above six points, it will require a BIG BIG BUREAUCRACY to execute and monitor. Over that, they will require CAG to audit them and CBI to prosecute them. After that, they will require courts to fight cases- Government even today is the biggest litigant in the country. End result- Most of the budget which was supposed to be used for development starts going to (1) Pay salaries of employees in PSUs, tours and travels, office upkeep (2) Budgetary support for losses made by PSUs (3)Paying expenses for CAG, CBI and other host functions(4) Capital investments for new PSUs. After that, if something is left, that will go to poor. If you don’t have anything left, but we still need to cover deficits, what will we do? Lets start borrowing from the market through bonds. We have a host of nationalized banks who will park their surplus cash in those bonds. All this ,BEACH PARTY AND GIANT ORGY, (all in the name of poor) was supposed to end one day. That one day came in 1991 when we had to pledge our gold. Courtesy: All images via google. ***Many of these activities may have started in Pre Indira Gandhi period or may have continued long after she ceased to be PM- however, her period saw the maximum irrationality of closed economy. Hence, it is pretty safe to dedicate the blunder on her.

Why have mainstream car manufacturers left Tesla's market share unchallenged?

They haven't. It takes a tremendous amount of resources, money, effort, and most importantly, time to create and launch a new vehicle. The last I read it was just under 36 months start to finish. There are two considerations. Since you asked about mainstream automakers (ford, got, hinds, Toyota) they are and have been developing EVs to compete with Tesla; they just make smaller, less exciting and less expensive cars, which are intended to sell in higher volumes. Since they are not sexy like the 100k-plus Tesla, they mostly go unnoticed. The large automakers have many more that are in development but because if the long development time we just haven't seen them yet. Secondly, although they are “small” only by comparison to the larger carmakers, these smaller companies such as BMW, Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes have a slew of EVs of all sizes and in numerous segments (sporty, sedan, SUV, etc.) in development. Again, we just haven't seen them yet. In fact, the top line, $1million dollar Porsche 989 is a hybrid electric and they have several more in development that are offshoots of current cars and are more reasonably priced. And so do all the other German luxury automakers. The next step will be pure EVs proliferating the lineup of nearly all automakers but there are still challenges in battery tech in terms of efficiency (although they are constantly improving) and driving range so the carmakers need some developments/improvements in those areas before that makes good financial sense. I recall reading about a rumor that someday soon BMW would stop producing internal combustion engines entirely, leaving only EVs I presume. To be fair, I would wager that tesla did catch many in the industry off guard because they thought Elon musk would soon fail, like tucker (see the movie) did in a long gone time. However, it seems he may be around for some time with this endeavor. I hear that CSI (dealer service) and SSI (sales satisfaction) is very high. However, that, in and of itself, is not enough. The company has to make substantial profits for continual investments in R&D, materials, machinery, etc. it's a high cost business so cutting costs to the bone and having a lot of cash is essential. Consumers expect (or are conditioned to expect) a continual stream of fresh new products. This ain't cheap. Add in the cost of environmental and safety regulations, for both the vehicles and the manufacturing plants, and it's a capital intensive industry. Therefore, tesla needs to generate huge sums of cash to keep the venture successful.

Do I have to pay back the enlistment bonus in the military if I accept it?

please edit your question — it doesn’t make sense: <<<“Do I have to pay the enlistment bonus in the military if I accept it?”>>> Are you asking if you have to pay TAXES ON your enlistment bonus??? if that’s what you’re asking, it depends. The default answer is YES. An enlistment bonus is income. So, if you receive it as income, you’ll pay income tax — Federal and, depending on your home-of-record, State income tax. If you are in a Combat Zone or Hostile Fire Pay Zone, when you receive it — assuming you are ENLISTED — then it is totally TAX FREE (income tax-free, payroll tax & SSI are still withheld)! If you are an OFFICER— it is NOT tax free***. Very few officers receive bonuses in the first place - usually just medical folks. I have seen ENLISTED COMM troops receive $20K or $30K ‘bonuses’ in a CZ / HFPZ totally income-tax free. Or, if you’re not in a CZ or HFPZ, and if you’re smart, you will max out your TSP [403(b)] for the year, which avoids income tax until you draw the money out during retirement. /// p.s., this is why, on military bases, the guy driving that shiny, new BMW is invariably ENLISTED; while the sad-sac driving a rusted-out Toyota Camry is invariably an OFFICER. *** Officers only get “tax free” pay, in any given month, up to an E-9’s (e.g., Chief Master Sergeant’s) pay. Enlisted, strangely, are NOT capped at E-9 pay. So they can receive an UNLIMITED amount of TAX FREE income in a CZ / HFPZ.
